I just did and guess what? its a real number just a message that lets you know who they are and what they do and requests support if you can support them. and they do tell you to push a number I cant remember which one but to push a number to be removed from their list we will see if we get the call again at this time marro - BobIt was a computerized caller, not a human, on the end of the line.
- Cheryl| 1 replyThese idiots continually call my elderly parents home, they have told them over and over that I do not live there, but still they call, I have asked them not to contact my parents home again, but obviously that fell on deaf ears, so my next call is to the Attorney General's Office, maybe they will listen then.

- Resident47 replies to CherylI'll almost guarantee the calls are not *dialed* by the EDF but a commercial fundraiser, and the call center really doesn't care who sends the checks. Rather than trying to correct records, you might focus on ending the calls, which you can get done with or without the AG's help by targeting the call center.
- Resident47| 1 replyCharity calls are commonly placed by a commercial fundraiser, such as Associated Community Services, Dial America, Donor Care Center, Donor Services Group, Harris Direct, Horizon Marketing, InfoCision, Insight Teleservices, MDS, and TeleFund. Like all non-sales calls, these are exempt from federal and state no-call registries, even though the call centers executing the recurring campaigns are very much for-profit and pocket most of what is collected. At times the ''charity'' client is itself a closet profit enterprise, compounding the deception.
As commercial entities, these hired call centers are expected to honor an internal no-call list and add any number upon request. Break that order, the FTC declares, and ''the telemarketer may be subject to a fine of up to $16,000.'' They are also covered to a point by other regulations for telepests, so you can complain about abandoned calls, bot calls to mobile phones, and so on.
Because the amounts collected are rather small, these call centers are quite motivated to repeatedly hassle you. The worst of the industry will "reload" a donor multiple times a year, preferring forgetful and easily confused victims. Most if not all such phone farms assume that your no-call order, when given verbally or by keypress, conveniently expires when a client's campaign ends.
In comments from November 2012 and June 2013 linked below, I've discussed simple steps I took to rid myself of a major pain fundraising boiler room by politely rubbing its face in federal laws. You will note that I never rely on verbal cease-communication demands.

- EASBReceived this call today at 9:28 AM. Oddly, my Caller ID listed simply Out of Area, with no phone number listed. But the caller left a VMM message but did not say anything. However, the envelope information on the VMM contained the number. I wish that if they were going to leave a message they would at least say something or identify themselves. If this really is the EDF, they should identify themselves. Especially if they are going to wear down my phone battery, since my phone has a light that flashes when there is a VMM and it takes up a lot of battery if the phone is not in the cradle.
- George BeddoeMessage identified on caller id as an International call spoofing a Washington, DC, area number.

- MarcI got a call from these people from another 202 number about two weeks ago. 202 660 1468. Then one from this number a few minutes ago. They're clearly spoofing the number, and likely lying about who they are also. I just add them to the reject list on my phone.
