- M| 2 repliesthere is a simple way to handle this.
JUST IGNORE THE CALL and let it ring out.
forget the DNC, forget who it may or may not be, stop analyzing the calls, dont call back... all this
just wastes your time and energy.
If you do not recognize a call on the ID... just simply IGNORE the call. - Mary JoCalled and left no message. The second time I picked up the phone and the caller hung up.
- ARBThese people keep on calling from different numbers. They call once or twice daily. I now have blocked two of their numbers. These pests also call from 914-294-2395. Idon't know how many lines they have but I can block up to a hundred numbers. I hope they don't have that many numbers. I don't know if they are the real March of Dimes. However, I am not giving one more cent to them. I won't even partcipate in their activities. If what they want is to turn people off, they have accomplished that with me. I really hope that is they are not the MOD that the real MOD sue the hell out of them.
- Caller: March of Dime
- annoyed| 2 repliesThis is NOT the March of Dimes, somehow scammers change the incoming call number. A legitimate non profit would never hassle people this way.
Blocking the number only works for a day, as tomorrow they will call from a different #.

- sandyREDjust rec'd a call from this number. I didn't answer - as they've called MANY times before. If people say it's the March of Dimes - it's obviously NOT the March of Dimes but a spammer who uses the number.

- robMarch Of Dimes. No message. Calls a lot. Can't imagine how they think with all the harassing calls we'd give to them.

- Bham ManBefore I pick up the phone, I turn on the weather radio. I push the talk button, set the phone down next to the weather radio, and walk off. Usually in 2-3 minutes I hear the off-hook tone, meaning they've hung up. I don't track which numbers still call after this but I enjoy doing it.

It is ironic, isn't it! And your wry and subtle social commentary is making me laugh out loud at my computer. :) There are several different kinds of misinterpretation here concerning the purpose of websites like this, yeah?
Thanks for the laugh. - JulieDownSouthI get calls on our land line from this number here in central Georgia every day or two, sometimes twice a day, but never at very early or late hours. The CallerID says 'Cell Phone NY.' I do not block the call, and the caller does get a chance to leave a message on my machine, but they do not.
From reading the posts on this website, I think this number might be 'spoofed,' and it is not really the March of Dimes.
This number seems to be associated with another frequent caller to my phone that is a known, supposedly legitimate, medical debt collector. (I don't have medical debt, but I think they're after the money that was 'written-off' by either my insurance coverage or the medical service provider on some recent surgery - but, that's another story).
I also get about four calls a day from an unknown number that transmits no CallerID information and is identified as 'Out of area' on my land line. My phone is set to disconnect immediately and give a 'busy signal' on calls like that.
I think it is wise to distrust this caller as a possible scam or bogus debt collector.

- Bennie replies to annoyedRead somewhere that the more aggressive you get in trying to thwart or block their calling you, the more aggressive they get in hassling you. Like if you buy some fancy software that blocks hundreds of calls and can give out a special 'out-going message' to each caller, then, the more steps the scammers are willing to take to get in touch with a live person who they can try their intimidation skills on.
My friends who are bothered by this caller just ignore them and let the call go to voicemail, where never a message is left.
Scammer or not - don't let this caller get you down or wound-up so tightly that it spoils your naturally cheerful disposition. - JJMarch of Dimes (MOD) and other national nonprofit groups who also do this sort of robocalling nonstop -- are GIVING NONPROFITS A BAD NAME and are annoying people rather than engaging with them and creating a true donor base. I'm a career nonprofit worker, though for a local organization that would NEVER engage in these practices. I'm blocking this number and would like the Do Not Call registry to include nonprofits in the future because they are abusing the system. I won't give MOD or any other group robocalling people one cent of my money, ever, and that means the penny jar at the local convenience store too. MOD = making me dislike disabled people (or whomever they're raising money for), one robocall at a time!!!!! Way to go, MOD.

- obviousNot replies to kelleygirlmarch of dimes is not going to call repeatedly every day , more likely debt collector in violation of federal laws , debt collectors are required to identify themselves as such immediately in the call
- seekAndSee replies to Lindaas below in a previous posting "march of dimes is not going to call repeatedly every day , more likely debt collector in violation of federal laws , debt collectors are required to identify themselves as such immediately in the call"
- MayHemI called the # back using 'Private' on my ID display and the recording says March of Dimes. ID caller says MOD.
The last time they called (which was last week) I acted sweet and kind so they'd respond and then gave them all the wrong information for a donation.
I am not mean ... I just know that the MOD sends a donation envelope in the mail -- they don't solicit over the phone so I think this may be a scam to get your $$$$$ and your personal info and credit card info.
If you sound abrupt when you answer, they either hang or they won't respond, as they know that they aren't going to get any $$$$ out of you. That's why I acted kind and pleasant so I could reel them in and then give them all the wrong credit card card info... which is what I did. They've never called back since last week.
If you sound angry or you are abrupt when you answer (and rightfully so) they just keep calling in the hopes of catching you in a better mood.
So, that's how I got rid of them. If they think you're all wacky OR you are onto them they won't call back.- Caller: MOD
