The caller leaves a message saying they are from the IRS. On calling back they ask you to leave your name and last four digits of social security number.

I got the same phone call yesterday from them saying that there is criminal investigation against me by IRS. What can it be?

I got this message this morning -- presume it's a phishing scam since they have no info on me, but want me to give them info.

I get this phone too, claiming to be from IRS, 100% Scam.

Same message - same phone numbers.  The longer you engage the caller, the phishier it gets....

We received a call from this number claiming that we were under criminal investigation from the IRS for tax fraud from 2008-2013 and that they were coming to arrest me.  Heavy Indian accent, when I asked the guy to repeat himself he hung up on me.

I received this call this morning about 9:40am central time (gmt). Obvious scam. Wish there was a way to report this crap where something actually get done.

THEY HAD CALLED A FREIND OF MINE, I CALLED THEM BACK AND GOT IN AN ARGUMENT OVER THE PHONE, WHICH TURNED INTO DEATH THREATS. I WAS HOPING THEY WERE CLOSE BY, WOULD HAVE LOVED TO MEET THEM. OH WELL, MAYBE SOMEDAY WE WILL CROSS PATHS. I AM SURE WHO EVER YOU ARE MAKING THESE CALLS WILL BE LOOKING AT THESE POST, NOT HARD TO FIND THIS SITE.

I received a call from this same # that I was under criminal investigation from IRS and he was coming arrest me
I told him he was crazy he sad how there I speak to a officer from IRS like this.
my husband took the phone from me start yelling at him that he is cheater so he hong up.
what a idiot instead getting a job he truing to scam people.

It's 100% scam James Stuart is part of scam too.  Caller says "YOU are in serious trouble".  Who is "YOU".  Go to irs.gov and input phone number in search box.  The only number that starts with 202 area code is 202-803-9000 for DC residence.  IRS has 800 number for nationally and local area code for locally.  Do not call back this number just report this # to FTC.

I found a similar call on my answering machine - IRS Criminal Investigations - call him back at 202-808-3670.  I knew I didn't do anything criminal and he left a broken sentence with just key words like your name, IRS, Criminal Investigation so I didn't call the number but being curious I went online to find the number and the scam.

"James Stuart" just proves the scammers are reading this too. Dear "James" from India, where you come from there are courses for call center staff to improve their English. Try one first before you come back here.

Got a call today from this number. Same M. O. As above! SCAM!

I received the call claimimg criminal investigation from IRS.  When questioned for more information, he hung up. I called back and argued with him and he hung up again. I kept calling back and he wouldn't answer the phone.  When he finally did he was agitated and uninformed and hung up on me again.

I got a call this morning @ 7am.  It sounded like a  prerecorded message. I'll report to FTC as everyone should.  Hope one day some authority will do a criminal investigation on him.
