Try typing out Unknown on you phone's keypad. 865 6696! It isn't actually the number you are being called from!

Omg I've had sprint since 04 and not once did I receive a phone call from that number! I just got the iPhone 4s in dec and this is the first time someone called from that number. They never said anything so of course I hung up creeped out. Glad I googled this so I know that's it's not me ad I don't personally have a stalker! Calling sprint tomorrow!

I just got the Iphone 4S as well from Sprint and started recieving the phone calls the next day. Grr.. Time to contact Sprint to see whats going on.

Got a call today.  It was my boyfriend on the other end.  I, too, just got the IPhone 4s.  I never had this happen on another phone.

Read Homer's message above. 8656696 on your keypad spells out "UNKNOWN". This is likely just the placeholder number from Sprint telling you that this number is an unknown caller, and it's also why there is no area code. Simple solution is to not answer.

I've started getting calls from 205-865-6696 to my 800 number.  (I'm in the 205 area code, too.)  It's definitely a machine, though.  I have multiple lines, and several calls come in from that number exactly two seconds apart.  (The first time, they were one second apart.  Subsequently, two seconds.)  I don't have an iphone and I don't use Sprint.

More info:  My phone software is supposed to send calls straight to a recording after hours, but this number is ringing through somehow.  Also, I blocked the number in my software, but it still manages to get through a few times before the software stops it.  BTW, I tried calling my 800 number from a land line using *67, and the call went straight to the after hours recording, as it's supposed to, and my call appears in the Call Log.  Interestingly, calls from the 865 number don't appear in my phone software's Call Log, but they do appear under "Recent Calls".  It's got to be some seriously powerful software.  Smarter than the FBI.  Sneakier than the CIA.  It must be Google.

I just got a call from this same number, no area code. I've had the same number and sprint for 10 + years. I jut switched from Bb to iPhone 4, I didn't answer. I'm in Illinois. Who the hell is it!?

Same with  me, started getting them when I got my iPhone. SO ANNOYING. One time I picked up by accident (thought it was someone else calling me back and didn't look) and they said it was the Democratic National Blah Blah Blah. But now that I see it spells out U-N-K-N-O-W-N I could be any number of different callers. How bizarre.

My old phone (which I hated) did have one good feature. I could program it to send specific numbers directly to voicemail without ringing. I just made an entry for every number that called like that and I never had to deal with it again. I wish iPhones had that feature.

Yup me too! I got Sprint iPhone4S and this # calls all the time.  bad thing is my # is a West Coast number & now i live on the East Coast but don't want to change # because I've had it for over 10 years needless to say this # calls at annoying times because I AM 3 HOURS AHEAD OF WEST COAST!

I got the call today and they said i was offered grant money from the government. The man was very rude when i told him i didn't want it. Then he hung up on me so obviously its a scam

I have an iPhone 4 with Sprint and I just started receiving these calls a couple days ago. I have been reading you guys' posts on here and we pretty much ALL have the same things in common: All with Sprint  AND ALL have either iPhones 4 or 4s'. The only difference is I see is that instead the first time i got a call from this number it was actually my older brother calling which was REALLY weird because his number is programmed in my phone so every other time he calls it shows up with his name and number (area code first). However, this time it was him but from this weird ass number. Ever since then, I've been getting calls from this number non-STOP! When I do pick it up they just either hang up or its dead air and then hangs up. VERY annoying! I opened up a case with Sprint tech support and they had NO solutions for this issue other than to do a master reset (which would just erase all media in my phone not backed up to icloud) or change my number! Not cool at all.

I live in VA and started receiving this strange call from 865-6696 as soon as I switched to Sprint from TMO and bought the iPhone4s. I'm perplexed as to who it is and how they received new my number. It must be affiliated with activating a Sprint phone in some way or an iPhone.

For some reason the iPhone on Sprint is not able to say unknown number.  So instead it uses 865-6696 for unknown number.  So anytime you see the number 865-6696 it was same number that called you before your iPhone that showed up as unknown number.

it's a scam...i answered and it was some guy with a heavy accent telling me the call was being monitored. when i asked what it was pertaining to they indicated i owed a loan that was in collection. when i asked what company they were with they wouldn't disclose the info. asked that they stop calling me and i blocked the # from calling. not sure if the block will take since i'm not sure what the area code is. calls come in without area code.

I too have an iPhone 4s, also with Sprint. When I answered that number, it was my wife on her cell phone. Apparently it's an error in the caller ID or something.

I keep getting them to its a scam they said I qualified for a loan for 5 grand I just hung up I thought it was lagit cause I did apply for a loan but I just missed there call again so they didn't leave a message or any thing

I just recently switched to sprint and bought a iPhone 4....I am now getting the same calls from this # without an area code. My husband picked up my phone and offered to take a message but they said they will call back and hung. I'm in area code 904. This # comes in without an area code. My husband has not received an calls on his iPhone yet... Hmmm
