This guy named Joseph Johnson keeps calling my work.  Along with a Steven Bratt?  They say I owe a payday loan to Cash Advance in SanDiego CA.  He is calling from the legal dept in Washington State.  I have reported to FCC FTC State Att. Generals Office and Consumer Financial Protection Bur.  I hope this does not continue.  He is calling and blocking all of the phone lines to the business and they are dead air calls.  So if I loose my job he still doesnt get money, Western Union or not.

He is asking to speak with an employee. I will not allow him to so he threatens to keep calling. He puts my work number on some auto dialing system and calls me repeatedly. Looking up all of my switchboard for the company operator. He says his name is John Hunter, but hes called before for another employee. It's a fraudulent call. They don't know this person or why he's calling. When they did talk to him, he wanted a credit card number to take care of a bogus account Cash Advance America. He is extremely rude! Cursing and being very hateful! Called the FCC and local law enforcement. The police dept called them and they cursed them out too! No regard for anyone. I doubt they are even in this country since they are foreigners (Very heavy Indian accent). Probably in India or somewhere in a call center.

Call blocker is your best bet.   There's no way you can stop the calls form being initiated.  The scammers are most likely located in India.

Not surprising with extortion scam operations.  Your hospital should consider looking into a call blocking set up or contacting the phone service provider to see what they can do to block these creeps!

Extortion Scam Related to Delinquent Payday Loans

    Washington, D.C.
December 07, 2010  FBI National Press Office
    (202) 324-3691

The Internet Crime Complaint Center has received many complaints from victims of payday loan telephone collection scams. Callers claim the victim is delinquent in a payday loan and must repay the loan to avoid legal consequences. The callers purport to be representatives of the FBI, Federal Legislative Department, various law firms, or other legitimate-sounding agencies. They claim to be collecting debts for companies such as United Cash Advance, U.S. Cash Advance, U.S. Cash Net, and other Internet check-cashing services.

According to complaints received from the public, the callers have accurate data about victims, including Social Security numbers, dates of birth, addresses, employer information, bank account numbers, and the names and telephone numbers of relatives and friends. How the fraudsters obtained the personal information varies, but in some cases victims have reported they completed online applications for other loans or credit cards before the calls started.

The fraudsters relentlessly call the victim’s home, cell phone, and place of employment. They refuse to provide any details about the alleged payday loans and become abusive when questioned. The callers have threatened victims with legal actions, arrests, and, in some cases, physical violence if they do not pay. In many cases, the callers harass victims’ relatives, friends, and employers.

We are located in Philadelphia.  These people keep calling asking about an employee who no longer works here..and told them we do not have any contact info for this person and can't pass along a message. They ignored what I said and threatened to keep calling us back unless we pass the message along....arrrggghhh....

I had gotten the dude's name and number and called back and said we do not have any contact info for the current employee and if they call us back one more time, we will report them to the Attorney General.  We'll see if THAT works.   Unfortunately our phone expert is out today and we hope to be able to set up a call block if it continues.  This sucks!

We started getting calls at our business from a guy with a very thick hard to understand accent named "Steven" from DFF Detection For Financial Fraud or something like that.  He was extremely hard to understand.  Wants info on an employee who hasn't worked for us for over 3 years.  Said that we have to call back to a different number (206 905 4885) from what he called on (593 230 5766) with the info or legal action would be taken against out business.  He actually hung up on me when I started asking questions.  Had to call Century Link to have the number blocked.

This company called from 15 different numbers, but 206-905-4885 is the call back number. They called me at work relentlessly for 2-1/2 hours, tying up all of our lines. They called my supervisor and another supervisor asking for me. They were rude and nasty. I told them to stop harassing me or I would notify the attorney general and FCC. They didn't stop. This was supposedly about a payday loan from 3 years ago. Identified himself as George Watson. Right. Definite Indian accent for pretty much all callers. Supposedly if a company harasses you about a debt, the debt can be forgiven. As I have many witnesses for the harassment, whatever debt they claim I have couldn't be collected. What a great way to do business.
