    >> is there a 'do not call' list for cell phones  <<

Yes.  In fact there is a prohibition against cold-calling ANY cell phone, on or off the DNC list.

Modern technology has given telescammers the tools to call you.
Since those telescammers are criminals, they ignore both the Do Not Call list and any request you might make.

Modern technology can also protect you, if YOU do a few simple things!
The most effective thing to do is to get a call blocking device, service or app.
    Then, use it correctly.

Google "call blocker" for more information, or visit Amazon or similar sales site.

If you cannot use or afford to buy such a tool, then:

    • Do not answer calls from unknown numbers ... let them go to voicemail or answering service

    • Do NOT return calls from unknown numbers!  All that does is verify your phone number!  And, in some cases, those return calls may cost $20 or more to complete.

    • If you have a "dumb" cell phone, assign the scammer's number to a group named "scam" (or similar).  Then, assign a silent ringtone to that group.

    • Another option, for both smart and "dumb" cell phones:  Assign a "silent ringtone" as DEFAULT.  Then, assign your favorite ringtones to all known friends / family / business numbers.  That way, you will hear rings ONLY from those you wish to contact!  You will not hear scammers' rings, even if they change their number!  (This is also called "whitelisting").

If you want to report potential fraudulent or scam calls, here are two pages of links to (mostly government) sites in Canada and the USA were you can report those scams, or learn more about them.

We get these "Rewards Redemption" SCAM texts or calls EVERY TIME we add more minutes/time to our Net 10 pre-paid cells.  I added minutes YESTERDAY, and right on cue, today I got this call.  Even worse, they just rang once and then it stopped, baiting us to call back.  Didn't.

We buy from CALLINGMART.COM via Paypal, and so they DO NOT get our cc # that way.  We suspect both NET10 AND CALLINGMART are based in INDIA, and attempt to circumvent the DNC rules AS WELL AS attempting cc PHISHING and ID THEFT, after they get a name/phone number or email address to exploit.

They have been and will continue to be REPORTED each and every time this happens.

Called my cell late at night, rang once and stopped.  I have included a link to a recent article I read online.  It seems our cell phones will be victims to the robo-scammers too.
