I received a call from this number.
As per usual, I didn't answer.
    CID: "South MT ID"
Apparently something to do with something called "Oregon-Idaho Utilities, Inc." from what I could find online.
I'm guessing spoofed because why would a utilities company out of Idaho be calling here in the middle of Michigan?

This # repeatedly calls my house. When I answer there is no response. When I call it back I get a recording saying the number is not in service. It's very frustrating!

I just got a call from this number asking specifically for me from a woman with a very hushed voice. She asked if I had a child taking the ACTs and I said yes.  She said "have fun taking the test" and hung up. I tried calling the number back, but a recording said it isn't in service.

A very soft spoken women asked if I was the parent and that child had request information for the SAT and ACT prep. They can send out the package for a free 30day trial and if it is a good fit, then it is $214.00. I asked if there was a web site I could get more information from and she said "I have 300 more students to call and I don't have time for this." I started to call her a rude #$@**, but she hung up before I could finish. Really wish there was something that could be done about these horrible scamming people.

A soft spoken woman asked to speak with the parent of my child, (Jane Doe).  I replied, this is her mom. She then asked me about Jane Doe taking the ACT test.  I then replied, would you like to talk to her? She then said, we don't normally talk to the child, we talk to the parent. I gave Jane Doe the phone. Jane Doe said she didn't know who it was, that she just asked if I was talking the ACT test, and I said yes, then she just hung up on me.  ????  This is crazy, after doing research I see that telemarketers are chasing down students just to collect money. That is just crazy.  My child's records aren't even safe with the STATE BOARD of EDUCATION.  If its laggett, then act professionally. Don't hang up!!!

Received a call from a man with a caller ID of Jordan Vallor claiming to be a representative of testprepservices.org wanting to provide ACT/SAT test prep materials to our son. Could only speak to the parents. Had a special 30 day free look. All I needed was to give him my credit card. He had all of my information. Was pretty convincing until I started asking questions. Told him to call me back in a few days once I was able to research his company. He thought he had a sucker and so he was very disappointed.

It is never ever a good idea to give an yes answer. You have no Idea what they may do with a recorded yes answer!  Please do teach this to your daughter also! Always answering the question with a question.  No or evasive answers, such as thinking about it, maybe, I'm considering it..

What bothers me is that recorded answers of yes could be used against you as a scam to gain access to your pocket book! They may demand payment for items you didn't even receive or for items you may have been able to buy cheaper elsewhere or for free.

Consider getting a call blocking device or phone.. You can google them and many are around $40.00 or so. If its a cell phone, some already have call blocking, if not, there are free apps on the web that will work for some. You can google this. If you have a smart phone, there is a free app called call control. Iphones appear to have apps also. Another one is called Mr. Number. For tracfone & straight talk:

    https://www.straighttalkwirelessforum.com/viewtopic.php?f=6803&t=55006

For text messages: forwarding any text message spam you get to the short code  “7726,” which spells “spam” on most phones, to alert your network operator to the abuse. ATT won't accept 7726 But they will accept BLOCK and return a message that the web site is blocked. forward the texts to 7726 or BLOCK, depending on your phone carrier.
