For a cell phone, some already have call blocking, if not, there are free apps on the web that will work for some. You can google this. If you have a smart phone, there is a free app called call control. Iphones appear to have apps also. Another one is called Mr. Number. For tracfone & straight talk:

For text messages: forwarding any text message spam you get to the short code  “7726,” which spells “spam” on most phones, to alert your network operator to the abuse. ATT won't accept 7726 But they will accept BLOCK and return a message that the web site is blocked. forward the texts to 7726 or BLOCK, depending on your phone carrier.

Got it, ignored it and they left no message.

It was a call to my cell and since I didn't recognize the number I ignored it.  No message left but when they called again I auto blocked it

They call but don't answer

Just got a call. Did not answer as I did not recognize the number. Caller id showed "out of area". I never answer out of area calls.

I saw the number and just knew it was some kind of telemarketer or scammer. Since I was already in a bad mood and needed to release it, I decided to answer. Was told I won a trip to either the Bahamas or the Caribbean. Told them to call me back on another number and gave them the number to the State Attorney General's office.

A feminine voice says congratulations! I won something that I wasn't even trying to.

This the umpteenth time I have received one of these calls. They use the 208 area code but the numbers are different, at least four + . I do not answer but appreciate those of you who know and have posted. Thank you

They're all head lice. They/it call on occasion. The lowlifes must leave a message because I do not answer unless the number is recognized. What a pity; this is what B-52's were designed to eradicate.
