- jane| 2 replies210-272-9577 Call from the a woman at 'State Fraud Division'. Stated in the message left We need your paperwork etc. no state identified, no address, and did not ask for a specific person'. (The number she called is a business number not a personal number.) Requested a call back at 720-636-8244. Searched this number and discovered this is most likely some type of 'scam.'

- suegot a call from a Ms. Davis, said I had until today at 6:00 to pay my outstanding payday loan. Don't know how they are getting this information. But when they say I could only wire in the money and when I said I couldn't wire it in they said to Western Union it and then gave me a girls name of Michelle Green, big red flag.

- Carlos| 2 repliesReceived call from State Fraud Dept. Must get back to them or the suit will continue. A prosecutor can answer my questions. Really?!! Bring it on. I want to see who this prosecutor is. I am getting tired of these phone calls. Can I report them to the State Attorney General/ consumer division?

- Slim replies to CarlosHere are two pages of links to (mostly government) sites in Canada and the USA were you can report those scams, or learn more about them.
Look here first:

If the reporting site you wanted is not in the above list, try this one:
http://phonehelp.2truth.com/complaint_sites_rev.html - TJ ParkerThese people are idiots, This is a scam run by a bunch of low lives who somehow have gotten all of your bank account information, social sec #, etc. Call the credit bureaus and place a fraud alert on your social NOW! They almost got me. Ask them to send you documentation that says you owe them this money. When they get an attitude with you about it (which they will) you know it's all fake. Also go to your local police station and make a statement, just incase they've got more information than you think.

- Monique replies to jane| 1 replyThis same number called my work and left a very extensive message. Are they supposed to be able to do that.
- Resident47 replies to CarlosI don't see why not. This is also a concern for the FTC and CFPB. If you can verify a working address for the scoundrels you can sue them yourself for the bogus threats.
FTC and CFPB material on US federal collection law:
http://www.ftc.gov/os/statutes/fdcpajump.shtm
http://www.consumerfinance.gov/askcfpb/search ... debt-collection - Resident47 replies to MoniqueDepends on what was said. Debt collectors may contact workplaces only to locate an alleged debtor. Any blabbing about a person's debt to the non-debtor or bogus threats or lies told to scare one into returning that call are examples of illegal conduct. Collectors must stop calling the PoE if informed that their calls are unwelcome there. The gist of comments thus far concern typical bullying from extortionist thugs. I can just imagine the FDCPA violations packed into that "extensive message".
