The issue is that the job advertised masquerades as a genuine sales job. Sales jobs involve more than just reading a pitch off a sheet of cardboard. Furthermore, GDS publishing used to advertise the fact that they were IIP (Investors in People) affiliated, even down to having a plaque on the wall. They are not known to Investors in People at all. Therefore the job that people take is not the one they are looking for, it is telecanvassing. Telecanvassing firms hire and fire large amounts of people, whatever it is they sell.

Tell people that the job is telecanvassing, and fewer people will apply, so you will have fewer people who 'fail', and therefore fewer 'bitter ex employees'.

I am a winner, constantly winning. I earned loads of money's at gds, it propelled me to a highly successful career, I took advantage of gds naive management and got a huge payout. I also have genuine testimonials from real clients and real people on my linkedin who earned loads of money out of gds - at there events. The only skill you have possess is the ability to whine and moan, and how to spell. You are a genuine loser. And no wonder gds is going down the drain, because people like you who blaged their way through interviews with over embellished CVs. Who then transpire to lack any proactive tenacity and end up just draining management, resources and their bank account with your whining and moaning, and you have all demonstrated this constant need moan by continuing your loser talk on a directory website.

Furthermore how could you not tell the job was anything more than telesales. You are a full [***] if you thought it was anything more. You should of recognized the commission rates while you had the chance, 45k per year is far more than your ever be worth and gds are no different to any other organisation that over sale their job ads. That's the whole point people who believe they deserve more, who have a over rated perspective of themselves, who aren't actually prepared to put the hard work and effort in, expecting opportunities to fall at their feet. That's why I am a winner because I work hard and make the most out of a situation, take a leaf out of my book and let go of this false perfectic 'bitterness'.

It gets to the point where these guys seem to be trying to convince themselves. Were told by some GDS'rs that it's a genuine business career, then this guy admits it's just telesales. At least that's got the message through to those thinking of applying for a job, which was my intention all along.

Telecanvassing jobs require people to be sacked to keep the empoyee base fresh, and to prevent people becoming disillusioned and questioning management, which is inevitable at GDS. For those looking for a job, think long term. Forget the money, but build up a base of genuine skills, and consider self-employment. If you have skills, you have power, which is better than short-term money and will lead to something important in the long term: Real wealth . GDS will give you 45K per annum, which is not actually that much, but it can, and will be taken away at any point. Plus you will have a blemish on your CV and no actual skills.

Spencer is squeezing everybody dry while readying his golden parachute, he doesn't care about anyone, so don't give him the time of day, let him rot in his Walter Mitty fantasy world .

And FBI, your spelling is not just bad, both that and your grammar are a total abortion. At least there's one company that will take you on.

Who ever FBI is they have a point. People which were proactive and were positive generally did well at gds, others couldn't hack it and were really negative.  Also 'we are all laughing at you' is pretty pathetic, the reality is that your sat in front of your computer, sad and alone, in fact its massively pathetic - correcting spelling - you are a loser.  I hope the very best for gds and the people who deserved to do well.

Yes, I see your point, people who are proactive do well in all walks of life. My point is that it's not just a matter of being able to 'cut it', certain personality types do well at GDS, so why does Spencer not have a long-term vision for HR? Getting the right sales people is just one facet of any business. I think a better HR structure would see a move away from 'hire and fire' towards a better business model. The best sales people in the world can't sell rubbish. Product development and marketing are two aspects of overall 'Sales' that make the product desirable.

If the product was better it would sell easier. In the bad old days it was non-existent, and no wonder it was so hard to sell. Quality has to come before the hard sell, and If you don't believe that you have no place in business.

    GDS International
It is quite funny looks at the different perspectives on GDS.  It is quite obvious that at times the people management side of the business has been very poor and my personal feeling is that even though it has improved it is still awful.  Any business that creates this sort of reaction in people has some serious issues to sort out.  There is a lack of respect for people demonstrated perfectly by branding people 'winners' and 'losers'. This lack of respect for people ... employees and customers is the key problem and something they are struggling to solve - as the saying goes 'a fish rots from the head down' so unfortunately Spencer Green has only one person to blame.  My experience working at GDS highlighted a big problem in Spencer's thinking ... he blames others for his failures and his 'management style' is quite simply bullying.  GDS might hate this website but the only way they will improve as a business is to take on the issues highlighted and deal with them.

    Effective lying replies to Neil

It is possible to sell GDS products successfully, it just involves telling a large volume of lies. If you have no scruples your product has no limitations. I mean ask the guys who sold the magazines that no one ever read

    Neil replies to Effective lying
Correct. This is the thing that GDS fail to mention at the interview stage. Most people are mostly honest, and most people can sell decent products, but that isn't good enough at GDS. If every company ran business like GDS in the UK, we'd be a third-world country in a decade. My interest in GDS is the fact that I like to see companies like this exposed for the good of society. I believe that the UK has been founded on legitimate businesses that produce value, and that is what the country needs, not snake-oil salesmen like Green.

Spencer simply doesn't deserve to employ good people in the first place. To make matters worse, he thinks he has the right to dictate to young, impressionable people how their careers should progress after they have left GDS, and that 'failure' at GDS is a reflection on the abilities of the individual, not Spencer.
