no message...just a missed call on my cell phone...and I don't give out that number to strangers...

missed call on my cell phone.  I also don't give out my number, prefer to redirect to my work switchboard.  No message and I don't know anyone in Ohio.  Telemarketers who don't know what the DO NOT CALL LIST means.  And I don't sign up to win sweepstakes because they are usually TELEMARKETERS!  AHHHHHHH!

got a call from these people too…. rang twice @ 0650am and then hung up …. didn't get a chance to answer either….ugh...

Um...
You do not directly pay for the Do Not Call list ... and there is no guaranteed govt protection from scam artists.  Where did you get that mistaken impression?

The Do Not Call Registry is not a magic switch attached to your phone line, that will block calls.  It is NOT a call blocking service.

The DNC list can help stop calls originating from legitimate, registered telemarketers who have paid to subscribe to the list.
* Your calls were not from legitimate, registered telemarketers.
* Therefore, the DNC list cannot stop those calls.

The DNC list does not automatically block calls.  Instead, it provides a list of  "do not call" phone numbers to telemarketers who registered their businesses with the FCC, and who pay a fee for the list.  The DNC list administration is supported by these fees.

The DNC list exempts political callers, survey organizations,  charities, and companies with preexisting business relationships, as well as debt collectors and certain nonprofit organizations, but these organizations usually have their own, internal Do Not Call list (ask them).

The DNC list is not effective against criminals, spammers and scammers, because those telescum are not registered, do not subscribe to the DNC list, and do not care if you are on or off that list.
It can stop calls from legitimate telemarketers, and it does a pretty good job at that.  Just think ... if there were no DNC, you would be receiving incessant calls from BOTH legitimate and spamming telemarketers!

The DNC itself has no enforcement authority - they forward complaints to the appropriate agency.

There is no significant drain on your tax dollar because the DNC is funded by the fees they charge registrants.

If you receive calls even after reporting them (and waiting a sufficient time), then you should consider using a call blocker app, device or service as your first line of defense.  Google "call blocker" to see such things at Amazon or other sites.

received a call just now from 216-755-7141 and the first ring did not complete before hanging up. The number shows on my phone as being in Ohio, USA. I am on the do not call list.  Unfortunately, being the list and reporting these calls does no good.

I got the same on my cellphone as others - 1 ring but they hung up.  Based upon this report from another "who is calling" site dated April 1 2015, I'm putting this one on call BLOCK.
"This is a telemarketer claiming that I visited a website and won a $100 gift card somewhere. It was a prerecording; no person and I hung up."

Received a call from this number on three(!!!) phone numbers simultaneously... I never pick up calls from unknown numbers. Left no voice message.

216-755-7141 called my cell on 6/16. No name no message. Rarely give out my cell# know no one in Ohio. Is it possible for a scammer to take a working cell # and insert it into another phone, then use minutes you paid for? who watches their minutes usuage?  Especially if you have unlimited.....Have noticed a great increase in mysterious far away area code numbers calling.I never answer them and never call back.

Great - yet another disclaimer from a gvmt agency.   "we're not responsible - what can we do...  waaaaa"   Listen - if private industry were as incompetent, capitalism would collapse.

Congrats DNC - you're useless.  But go ahead and keep collecting your money - why not  -  it's not as if you have to show results.   Sorry if I've interrupted your scheduled breaks, paid vacations, lucrative pensions, early retirements, etc.
