Caller (automated) says the IRS has filed a lawsuit and to call this number.

Recorded message alleging they are IRS and that we owe money and if we don't call them back immediately we can face imprisonment.  (THE IRS WILL NEVER CALL YOU AND DEMAND MONEY)

Beware this is a Scam Google IRS phone scams on line it will tell u all about the scam. They called saying final Notice A Law suit chrages since 2008. They are in a call center in a diffent country will lie and say your gu to jail they even act like a officer and read fake charges this part off the Scam to scare people to pay them they get nervous when they hear the court or jail why are people not reporting them or call the cops . This a scam no matter they say the IRS will never call u

Only got a voice message left on our phone TELLING us to call this number.  The call was at 7:53 AM.

computer said IRS was going to borrow money from the from the FED if I didn't pay them the money.

DO NOT CALL THEM BACK! This is a scam as I do not owe the IRS anything and file my taxes yearly without any problems. I have not received anything WRITTEN from the IRS as well. Please be careful people and don't give out your personal information...

said they were IRS and this was my last call before they start a law suit  if I wouldn't call this number. looked it up and it looks like there will be a lot of law suits.

Report them the IRS will not call nobody this scam is very big. Told me I had a warrent and law suit they must think I was born yesterday and call back So they can try to get my information and try to scam me good try wrong person. did not answer call from this MD number. left vmail saying the IRS was going to file a lawsuit against me and demanded i call the number. Obvious scam. Do not pick up call or return call.

240 442 2802 automated call threatening a lawsuit with the irs. I know this is a scam and called back to see if I could get any information. Male answered; refused to talk to me; many foreign sounding voices in the background. A similar scam called my elderly mother and threatened to put her in handcuffs. Luckily, she knows they are bogus as well.

I got an automated call threaten to sue me from the IRS

This was featured on our news as a scam.

I called the 240-442-2802 number back that said IRS. A "Mr. Jones. I asked him which department and to repeat his name, as I didn't owe them any money. He hung up on me.

(message is automated call (robotic/not person) voice) "The nature and purpose of this call is to inform you that" (garbled, sounded to me like gawr S) "is filing a lawsuit against you. Call immediately on our department number 240 442 2802" (and they repeat the number.
No address to whom they called, no names or other information. Did not / will not call them back.

This is not the IRS they can make any number show up on people's caller ID  why are people not reporting these scams. They call saying I going to jail left a fake case number told me something about a lawsuit and final call. I would got a letter epwhere I would have to sign for for it , I hope people are not calling them or falling for they fake bullie scam

Most of these calls are coming from India and Pakistan.

Do consider getting a call blocking device or phone.. You can google them and many are around $40.00 or so.If its a cell phone, some already have call blocking, if not, there are free apps on the web that will work for some. You can google this. If you have a smart phone, there is a free app called call control. Iphones appear to have apps also. Another one is called Mr. Number.

Total scam.  IRS does not file lawsuits.  IRS already has enough administrative authority under the IRS code and regulations to collect all lawful federal income taxes.  Ignore these callers and block them.
