Got a call. I answered nothing...then a recording stating something garbled and the disconnect.

Guy called and said he was from toyota motor company and wanted to know if i wanted to renew my vehicle warranty on a 2012 camry. Didnt address me by name and said that a notice had been sent to an address i dont live at. When i asked him who the the owner of the vehicle is he said he couldnt pronounce the name and why i needed the name if he is providing all the other information. I cursed at him and hung up. Dont give this person any information. Its a scam and they are trying to get you purchase a warranty using your crediy card or bank information.

Got several calls from this number, no voice message. Did not return calls. Added to my blocked numbers.

Caller said I needed to renew my warranty on my Kia.  Hung up on her.  Then called my Kia Dealer since the car has 10 year or 100,000 miles.  Was told by the Dealer this is a scammer.

I think they're telemarketers...I called them back and it's a machine giving me options to get on the Do-Not-Call list.

Same here in identifying my vehicle and about the Final Notice being sent. I told him that we should leave it as a final notice and he hung up on me. How rude!  If you call back, the recording allows you to press 1 to be placed on the DNC list.  I am on the do not call list!

made the mistake and answered....caller said he was with an hvac company...told him I was on both national and Texas "NO CALL LISTS" and why is he calling me?  He said, sorry and hung up....but they are still calling.

Modern technology has given telespammers the tools to call you.
Lawbreaking telescammers ignore both the Do Not Call list and any request you might make.

Modern technology can also protect you, if YOU do a few simple things!
The most effective thing to do is to get a call blocking device, service or app.
Then, use it correctly.

Google "call blocker" for more information.  There are available apps (some free) for smart phones, and services and devices for landlines.

If you cannot use or afford such a tool, then:

• Do not answer calls from unknown numbers ... let them go to voicemail or answering service.  Telespammers usually hang up after 3 or 4 rings.

• Do NOT return calls from unknown numbers!  All that does is verify your phone number, and make it more valuable to more spam groups!  And, in some cases, those return calls may cost $20 or more to complete. If the incoming call was important, they would have left a message!

• If you have a "dumb" cell phone, assign the scammer's number to a group named "scam" (or similar).  Then, assign a silent ringtone to that group. (This also works for smartphones).  The spammer will usually hang up before the phone goes to voicemail.

• Another option, for cell phones:  Assign a "silent ringtone" as DEFAULT.  Then, assign your favorite ringtones to all known friends / family / business numbers.  That way, you will hear rings ONLY from those you wish to contact!  You will not hear scammers' rings, even if they change their number!  (This is also called "whitelisting", and will cause you to miss calls from non-whitelisted numbers).

Received call today from this number and was flagged as possible spam.  No message left.

Good for you.  I got the same response.  I, did, however told him that my name was Junior Samples and asked him to call me on my private line.  I then gave him the number to the local F.B.I. office.

2 calls from this number today (says from Tomball, TX), did not answer either time. Blocked number via AT&T on my phone.

Received another call from this number today.  Did not answer the phone; no message left.
