Its a craigslist scam

craigslist response to private auto sale. checked number on this site found it is a scam. Maria was name given on response.

same name, Maria, an a response to a motorcycle for sale...  wonder what scam she/they are trying to pull.  one day we'll be able to catch them all.

Received response to 2 postings I had on craigslist.

Both the responses had the same name, but used different emails to respond. Emails used:

This is what the messages said:

I got the same email from the same person and that number for me to call back!! Guys please do not even talk to these people there are a couple of them involved and they will send you a check that is no good. I got one from a guy and his email was lucas.bent@yahoo.com and he sent me a check from Citibank but i called Citibank and they said they have had several people calling about this and the checks are not any good and to report it to the police. They are using a hotel address and the phone number goes to a hearing impaired call center. DO NOT DEPOSIT THE CHECK THEY SEND TO YOU!!!

They are sending out bad checks that say Citibank! I got one and called Citibank to confirm funds and they said go to the police and report it. Maria is in the same scam with a guy named Lucas bent his address is lucas.bent@yahoo.com.

(301)741-4870 was a number left in response to a Craig's List Posting from yesterday. "Maria" left the same message as reported above. I'm never going to send out personal info. unless I use this reverse call site from now on. You people who are receiving checks, are you mailing these scammers your merchandise? I'd be nice to somehow scam the scammers...

"Maria" is trying to scam us too.  Just said she mailed the check.  Looking forward to turning it in for mail fraud!  They need to be arrested!!!

Maria is a busy SOB!  I got the same reply to craigslist ad with (301) 741-4870 phone number.

When I responded, I received this next message:

Hello there, thanks for writing back and am so sorry for been late before i  get back to you just that my plans has been change like i thought before,I  won't be able to come see it anymore.I thought I was gonna be dropping in  your town on weekend but my business appointment there has been postponed to  last Friday in May. I'm still very much interested in buying this, I need it for my cousin as a gift for her birthday. Can it still be sold to me? I  will mail you a bank certified check for the quoted price, any repairs will be on me, bearing the consequences of not seeing before buying and also add  funds to cover the shipping to where it will be needed. I will  arrange a  private shipper to handle the delivery so it doesn't stress you. I'll be  very delighted if I can still buy this. Let me know if this is something you can work with and you can email me back with your name,address and a phone number for the check.  Thanks.

Thanks for writing back...but I'm sorry I won't be able to come see it anymore, embarking on a 3 month business trip to New York tomorrow morning,I was gonna be coming to your town that got changed but I still want it anyway,getting it for my cousin for her upcoming birthday. If you could sell it to me when I get to New York I will mail you a bank official check to cover the cost and also add funds to cover the shipping to where it will be needed.
