My boyfriend is selling furniture I posted for him on craigslist.  he forwarded me an email so i could set up the sale and I read it an knew right away it was a scam.  Just to check i googled this email: evaknight@wikizplc.com  and got this stirng.  I forwarded it to him as well to he would see it was a scam.  

I guess when your not that familiar with this kind of stuff it's easy to get taken.  Thanks for all the posts so I can help teach him!

I received this email this morning on an item I have posted on Craigslist. I decided to search out the number before I did anything. I am glad I did now. Thanks for saving me a lot of trouble. This is what I recieved from William Olson

Wow I received an e-mail from Alan Fischer, the same exact words as Skip posted, wow!!! I can't belive these scammers, oh well he can come pick up the funiture I posted on Cragislist I can care less, but it's soo sick of people using disablitiy as an excuse to rip off others!

Did you go to Citibank and cash it? or did you just deposit it?  If you deposited the check in your account 3 day is clearly not long enough the find out if the check is good!

I also made it farther than the others just by the mere fact that it sounded close to other posts.  I got as far as supplying an address for mailing, but then stopped the email chains minutes after.  It sounds like you also supplied your address, did you feel in danger for having done so, or did you feel that it was more about the money and item for sale than gaining access to your name and address?

I got the same response to a furniture ad that I posted on Craig's list.  I knew something sounded off about this response.  I'm glad that I looked into it before cashing anything.

Alan Fisher wrote me about a Craigslist ad I placed for furniture item for $150.
A check came in from Noorani International (not Citibank), for $2,200!!
Googled Alan Fisher and found this sight.

Got the standard emails mentioned here from Alan Fisher and then received an overnight check for $2,500 (I am selling a couch for $500) with instructions to cash the check, keep $550 for myself (an extra $50 for "running around" and to Western Union the remainder to a moving company, who will then pick up the couch. It seemed strange, I told him I was not comfortable and he replied:

I'm sad and confused about your message,  I told you initially that
the movers fee will be included in the payment, the overpayment is
meant to cover the cost of shipment for the item alongside my other
properties including tax and insurance plus the movers fee. I would
have love to complete this transaction in person but i'm on work
inspection at the moment which was why i instructed my secretary to
mail out payment.

You have to understand that i tried everything possible to make
sure payment reaches you on time as also have some properties ready to
be moved alongside your item.Will really appreciate your effort by
acting accordingly as agreed, cash the check, deduct your money for
the item and make the rest funds available to the movers coordinator
so they can  arrange for the pick up of the item alongside with my
other properties. Your effort will really be appreciated.

and so on,  so i recieved the same email as all of you but the name changed.  I watched a special on CLTV news and found that this operation is ran out of a home with 3 people who use different names to try and scam people.  
I sent the email to the FBI website for internet fraud.  You guys should do the same before they get some poor unexpecting older person.

I just received the same package and email from this Alan Fisher.  I plan to report him to the FTC.  I called the bank that the check was cut from and they said they received about 5 of these in the last week.  Unreal!!!

Yep, sounded immediately suspicious so I googled it - thank's everyone for this thread.  Beware of anyone who asks for your personal info and does not give thier own.  If they think there are things of value for sale in the home they could just as easily come and steal them,  especially since I had said in my posting that I was only available  on Sundays.

This is so clearly a money-laundering scam.  It is boggling how transparent they are though - there are alot of warning signs in their letter.  

When I posted for a $400 bed frame that was easy to transport I made it clear that it was only available on Sunday's for veiwing.  So when I got their letter, my immediate thought is why would I give my personal info out so someone knows where I live - I might get robbed.  Then I think why should I have to handle payment or have any dialogue with thier shippers,  I don't have to process someone's money through bank just to sell a bed.   And then I found this thread.  

Look at all the people who got extra money here - they either say "Whoppee", or let's think for a few seconds here - that money goes back to a "legitimate" moving company for a combination shipment of goods no one else ever sees or ever knows about.  What if the person selling the bed keeps a little bit of the extra money,  is the shipper going to break thier arm?    Who know's maybe I watch too much cop TV, but they get their stories from somewhere.

I got this message today.  I responded on my BlackBerry saying we had a deal but then googled his email when I got home and found this.  Sent an email back saying no deal but worried now that I gave my address and cell number (although technically all public info anyways).
