- amanded1| 1 replyGot a call from Elaina at "Financial Litigation Services". Said my husband got a loan from one of their payday loan companies in 2012. Gave amount but no loan company name. They should not have been releasing this info to me (clue number 1) since its supposedly his loan. Said he could face jail for the three charges theyre filing against him (clue number 2- they can't threaten jail time). I have had similar scams but these guys actually speak English. We have yet to receive anything in writing so if they call back I'm going to tell them we want it in writing.

- Anonymous in IL| 2 repliesI received a call from this number, saying the company name was "Financial Litigation Services" and that I did not pay a loan back. I have had many fraudulent calls like this before but usually they have an accent. I asked what company I supposedly did not pay back and was told it was "AA Enterprises." I asked to notate the account that it was fraud and also asked what the address was so I could make a formal complaint against the two alleged companies.
The woman said that their address was 4200 Edmundson Ave in Baltimore, MD. When looking at reverse directory assistance, it is clear that no company by this name exists at this address. In addition, I could not find a company with either name.
I asked for a supervisor, who was equally as rude as the underling and again, did not even listen when I said this was false.
I am writing a letter to the company at this address, a complaint to the Better Business Bureau, the Baltimore Commerce Commission and the Federal Trade Commission, possibly the Attorney General. These are all online. Good luck!- Caller: "Financial Litigation Services"

- Elspeth replies to ChantePer the FDCPA, you should not pay any caller unless they MAIL - do not accept email, fax or phone - proof of debt and proof that your callers have the legal right to collect said debt. Refusal to mail this documentation within five days of their initial contact with you is a violation of federal law. In other words, unless you receive written, verifiable proof that you owe them money, you should not pay! More info here:

Extortion Scam Related to Delinquent Payday Loans
Washington, D.C.
December 07, 2010 FBI National Press Office
(202) 324-3691
The Internet Crime Complaint Center has received many complaints from victims of payday loan telephone collection scams. Callers claim the victim is delinquent in a payday loan and must repay the loan to avoid legal consequences. The callers purport to be representatives of the FBI, Federal Legislative Department, various law firms, or other legitimate-sounding agencies. They claim to be collecting debts for companies such as United Cash Advance, U.S. Cash Advance, U.S. Cash Net, and other Internet check-cashing services.
According to complaints received from the public, the callers have accurate data about victims, including Social Security numbers, dates of birth, addresses, employer information, bank account numbers, and the names and telephone numbers of relatives and friends. How the fraudsters obtained the personal information varies, but in some cases victims have reported they completed online applications for other loans or credit cards before the calls started.
The fraudsters relentlessly call the victim’s home, cell phone, and place of employment. They refuse to provide any details about the alleged payday loans and become abusive when questioned. The callers have threatened victims with legal actions, arrests, and, in some cases, physical violence if they do not pay. In many cases, the callers harass victims’ relatives, friends, and employers.

- Parker| 1 replyI been recieving calls several times a day on my land line from the 301-850-4181 number as well. It's always a recording saying I must return a call to the fraud dept. This is making me crazy....I don't owe ANYONE anything and I no nothing about any fraud case. They ask I reference the call with my case number. I don't have one ...never have. I recieve 0ver a hundred calls a week from someone asking for Don.....then they say he has a pay day loan....I don't know him.....and have no idea how they have gotten my phone number. If it keeps up I'm changing my number. Something needs to be done to stop these [***].....I'm sick of the calls.
- Victim in Seattle replies to DARROLThis very same thing happened to me today. An evil phone call from a Stacy Holloway saying that she works for Litigation Department and she was hired by Advance America or AA Enterprises and that I owe a loan from them in 2012. She said that the money was deposited on my bank account and I've never paid it back. I never made any transaction with any Advance America or AA Enterprises before and I've never did a loan like this. She was threatening me with 3 counts of charges which are bank fraud, check fraud, and theft by deception. I told her that I went to law school and that I also have a certificate in Paralegal studies so she can't fool me. She insisted that she would put me on hold and transfer me to Cole's line who is a processor; and that he will upload my affidavit in the sheriff's office. These scammers should be arrested. The phone number they've called me from is 301 579 4209.
- JeffJust got a call from 301-579-4209, telling me to call 301-850-4181. As with any of these calls I always come to this website first, and unless all of us got a loan from the same place. I call scam, now I did take out a few loans, but these companies have stopped calling after I said I was filing bankruptcy. I decided not to, and figured I would deal with the companies as each one called. Haven't heard from any of them in over a year and a half, so I think they either wrote it off, or all gearing up to come after me at the same time.

- JeffSo a little follow up to my last post. I did a little research, and while yes 301 is a Maryland area code, it serves western Maryland including Washington DC. 410 is the actual area code for Baltimore, so that is clearly another sign this is a scam. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Maryland_area_codes
