Whoever this is, they were VERY persistent and argued about various parts of the discussion concerning other options I would use if I had a problem.  I got exactly the same story as others reporting here.  There is more at http://www.wilderssecurity.com/showthread.php?t=280935&page=3.

I received a call from this number this morning from a person with an East-Indian accent saying he was from YouTube (or represented them, not sure he was talking too fast and was difficult to understand) and wanted me to get to my computer so that he could tell me how to remove unwanted virus files from my computer that YouTube sent to my computer.  I asked why wouldn't You Tube send out an e-mail if their site was sending out viruses and he responded that they tried (not true obviously).  I told him to leave his phone number (which he did) and I'd call him back (which I didn't).  Other things that seems fishy to me were why is the return number not a 1-800 number, and how could one office call the millions of people who use this web site......  So I decided to check out the number by entering the area code and this information site came up.  Thanks!  Nice to know I hung up on a scammer!

I just received a call from this number, and while on the phone with the telemarketer, named Christopher David,  whom I could barely understand, and had to have him spell everything he said, I got on the computer and typed in the number he was calling from, and voila! This is where it brought me.. He advised he was calling from 'Remote Support'. I asked him the name of the company. He repeated 'Remote Support'. I then asked him why 'Remote Support', 'You Tube', and 'Megabit Solutions', are all apparently using the same phone number to call people. They must be all too poor to obtain their own telemarketers and phone lines and must be forced to share, as it appears people are getting calls from all three on from this number???  He then got a little snooty with me and insisted that none of the above are associated and this phone number belongs to 'Remote Support'. He then went on about the problems with my 'Vista 07' computer (which I do not have), and asked me to log into my computer so that he could direct me on which files to access etc,  and I asked to speak to his supervisor. Another gentleman then came on the phone, named Andrew. I asked for their OPERATOR ID #'s and neither could provide me with that and weren't sure what I was asking for....seriously...And I asked if they were registered with the better business bureau.. the response.. from a supervisor at that...''Uh Yeah, now ma'am if you'll go access those files....I interrupted him with ''Do you have an office in Canada that I can call?''... Him: ''No Ma'am, just the states, head office in Miami and we operate from the UK (Capital Scammers of the world!!). I told him that I'm in the process of getting rid of my computer and getting a new one, so he could waste his time elsewhere trying to con someone into donating their information so they can hack their computers, and not waste his time on mine. PFFFFFTTTT BEWARE OF THIS NUMBER!!!!

I recieved a call from this number stating that my computer had been corrupted.  I asked where they were calling from & he gave me a hokey name.  He said his name was Kevin McGuire & he was calling from Vancouver - not India which is where he sounded like he was from.  When I stated that I was not interested in his scam tactics & that I was going to hang up he asked if I wasn't going to consider the computer issue maybe we could be friends ... then could I come for dinner ... then could I give him dating advice!!!!  I had a little bit of fun with the call & told him I was an overweight lesbian with 8 children ... he then hung up!
    Anyway, BEWARE!

Definitely a scam.  Call back, he'll answer, you can give him a piece of your mind. I told him he was better than scamming and he should get an honest job.  So if the phone calls end tonight, I want some credit!!!  Don't believe a word!!!!!!!

We have had 3 calls from this fellow in one night. Very persistant, saying our computer is close to being totally corrupted. He wanted us to type in 'inf' in the search line, but at that point we decided to check with our computer friend, and he did NOT want to let us get off the phone. He kept saying, I just want to help you and you need to type such-and-such. I asked for his number and it took awhile but eventually he gave it to me.

I just received a call on my cell phone at work. Same MO as reported by others here: Indian accent - not sure if man or woman, talked fast, hard to understand, my computer was downloading bad files. We are having some problem with our home computer, so for a second, I was almost gullible. Then, I realized, how would they know that. When I asked which computer was having the problem, as I was on myh laptop at work, they said your home computer, and wanted me to log on and do something. I explained that I was not at home. They were persistent, as they wanted to know when they could call. I gave them a time, with no intention of living up to it. After I hung up I realized how much of a scam it really was. Thanks to those who have taken action!

Got a call from a company called 24X7 PC letting me know that they were an authorized provider and that my computer was corrupted.  I asked him which of my computers was he referring to, he couldn't tell me, he kept quoting some ID # that was reported by the manufacturer, I asked him which manufacturer, he went on to talk about Windows authorization.  I assured him that my computers were fine and my husband was a genius of a system security engineer who ensures our computers are current and up to date at all times.  He indicated the problem was something he wouldn't be able to detect.  In addition, told him this was the 3rd time that someone called to report the same issues and as I told the other customer service representatives "please remove our number from call list, we will risk it."

He will give you a number (307)529-0607 and if you dial it back he will answer it like he is sitting in his living room watching TV, but not with the proper greeting of a company.  Funny how, a company with so much "authority" to access your computer is limited to one/single phone number that is registered and lacks true customer service skills.   When all of his tactics failed, he told me my computer (the one I am using now) would crash in 30 minutes and to go F-myself.

Do not even boot up your computer for this SCAM.

got the same thing...4-11-12 call from this number.  showed us all the corrupted files by searching run inf.  they disconnected, and man also with east indian accent came on saying he(Mack cage- was in miami ID number 888DCA60.  kept reassuring it is not a scam.  had us go to the ammyy.com site and we did.  but when he had us click on the free software a remote "this site is attempting to remotely connect to your computer" I told him no way I am giving a stranger access to remoting connect to my computer (the way our tech support does at my work.)  he then hung up.  called a friend and he said the error messages they showed us on our computer are normal events.  who knows what could have happened if we'd have given him access remotely.  we'll report it to law enforcement tomorrow

I have received 2 calls from this number saying that they are from Star Tech Support computer maintenance company and that my computer is down loading malicious software. I asked where this company is located and he said "Florida, Miami" I then said Miami, Florida? He said, "yes, they are the same". I laughed and told him that no, no one in the USA would call it Florida, Miami. I then asked for his name. He said Frank Lee. I asked "Frank" which computer he was referring to as we had 5 computers in this house. At that point, I said that I needed to speak to someone that spoke English as I could not understand him and to make sure that this person was also the supervisor. He put "John Hood" on the phone; I asked him the name of the company and he had to ask someone else in the background for the name. I just laughed at him. I again asked for his phone number and received this same number. He then gave the phone back to Frank, whom I could not understand.  He got mad and said that I wasn't listening to him as he was trying to get my CLS ID# from the computer. I again asked which computer and he said the one with Windows 7. I again said which one. He said the "Howard Picket, HP computer". I started laughing and said don't you mean Hewitt Packard? I laughed at him again and told him they were all full of sh** and hung up. Wish that at the time I would have remembered that we don't have any HP's in the house. After hanging up, I called my computer person and he said that this is in no way a call from a legit company. That this call was for sure a SCAM and that once they have the CLS ID# from your computer that they can get any and all information from your computer.
