- horsegal| 3 repliesAnother one to send to the blocked callers list....I got the same thing btw. Do Not Call list is a crock...I renewed mine 6-months ago and it makes no difference whatsoever. These bottom-feeders think they're above the law...and for the most part it seems that they are...

Sure it did!
Y'see, registration on the DNC list is "forever". You do not have to renew. However, if you do renew, there is a chance that "opens the door" for another 30 days, for legitimate telephone sales people to call you.
Your ignorance of the purpose of the DNC list goes even further ...
The Do Not Call Registry is not a magic switch attached to your phone line, that will block calls. It is NOT a call blocking service.
The DNC list can help stop calls originating from legitimate, registered telemarketers who have paid to subscribe to the list.- Your calls were not from legitimate, registered telemarketers.
- Therefore, the DNC list cannot stop those calls.

Click on the Info link, below (Javascript required)InfoThe DNC list does not automatically block calls. It is NOT a call blocker! Instead, it provides a list of "do not call" phone numbers to telemarketers who registered their businesses with the FCC, and who pay a fee for the list. The DNC list administration is supported by these fees.
The DNC list exempts political callers, survey organizations, charities, and some companies with preexisting business relationships, as well as debt collectors and certain nonprofit organizations, but these organizations usually have their own, internal Do Not Call list (ask them).
The DNC list is not effective against criminals, spammers and scammers, because those telescum are not registered, do not subscribe to the DNC list, and do not care if you are on or off that list.
It can stop calls from legitimate telemarketers, and it does a pretty good job at that. Just think ... if there were no DNC, you would be receiving incessant calls from BOTH legitimate and spamming telemarketers!
If a caller does not leave a message, the call is NOT a violation of the DNC rules!
The DNC itself has no enforcement authority - they forward complaints to the appropriate agency.
There is no significant drain on your tax dollar because the DNC is funded by the fees they charge registrants.

Click on this link, to read the Congressional Research summary of "Telemarketing Regulation: National and State Do Not Call Registries".

The following page states the FCC's DNC Registry applies to both intrastate and interstate telemarketing calls:

However, to confuse things, this page states the DNC Registry applies only to interstate telemarketing calls:

Remember, the FCC's Do Not Call site is a good one to report unwanted calls from LEGITIMATE telemarketers. To report spammers and scammers, visit the FTC site, at https://www.ftccomplaintassistant.gov/

If you receive calls even after reporting them (and waiting a sufficient time), then you should consider using a call blocker app, device or service as your first line of defense. Google "call blocker" to see such things at Amazon or other sites.

- Didi-M replies to horsegalYou fail to understand that the DNC list is there as a tool so that, if you report, and if they are in the U.S. and proving the charges is not an easy task, Horsegal. Their investigators work on the ones they are able to but some situations make it difficult to locate them. There is no magic bullet.
You are quite correct in calling them "bottom-feeders" who "think they're above the law". One investigator suggested that I not answer calls from any hidden or unrecognized phone numbers. As he told me, I now have many less calls. So, if you've been answering the phone, you can help yourself a LOT by not picking up the phone when you don't know who the caller is. If they re worth taling to THEY WILL LEAVE YOU A MESSAGE!
I just got a call from this number and they don't leave messages. So I know they are scammers.
