This is a scam to lower your credit card interest rates. Informed the appropriate state attorney generals and the US Trade Commission.
    Also numbers 217-210-0347 and 763-445-4993.

I press the #3 to be taken off their list and still get transferred to an agent, who upon hearing I pressed 3 hangs up on me.

Consider getting a call blocking device or phone.. You can google them and many are around $40.00 or so. If its a cell phone, some already have call blocking, if not, there are free apps on the web that will work for some. You can google this. If you have a smart phone, there is a free app called call control. Iphones appear to have apps also. Another one is called Mr. Number. For tracfone & straight talk:

For text messages: forwarding any text message spam you get to the short code  “7726,” which spells “spam” on most phones, to alert your network operator to the abuse. ATT won't accept 7726 But they will accept BLOCK and return a message that the web site is blocked. forward the texts to 7726 or BLOCK, depending on your phone carrier.

Got a call from this number and a voice mail about lowering credit card interest rates.  These scamming telemarketers are really becoming a nuisance and threat to civilized society.  I heard there's a team of ex-Navy Seals that hunts down these ruffians and chops their hands off so they have to make their scam calls with their feet.  Morley Safer is even doing a story about it on 60 Minutes!

Catch:  We don't have one.  Answer:  VTech 2 handset cordless phone from Wal-Mart, approx. MSRP $30.  It blocks up to 20 calls (though I warn you the phone still rings once if a blocked number calls) and it has no embedded answering machine for these anal types to leave a message on (as if we could understand their accents when they do anyway -ever seen the episode of MASH where Hawkeye is teaching the locals English words and phrases?  What they do works something like that).  Money well spent especially since our old one started crackling at us.  And I still maintain that the DNC list just makes them want to call more!  As does pressing the number three, StayingAlert, or even whichever number they give you to press so they'll "remove" you from their call list!
