The Do Not Call list is NOT a call blocker!

If you had read all the words on the Do Not Call signup pages, you would have learned that the No Call list is limited to "legitimate telemarketers".  It specifically exempts charities, political callers, survey companies and some companies with which one has done business in the last 18 months.

Scammers ignore the list.  After all, criminals ignore laws, right?

Remember, the DNC list is NOT a call blocker!  If you want to block repeated calls from unwanted callers, get a call blocking app, device or service (Google is your friend).

Please reply to this post to let us know you read it, and will take steps to resolve the problem yourself.

I received a call from this number from "Jennifer" who informed me "They" had sent numerous notices to me letting me know my car warranty was expiring and this was my last chance to renew it. She didn't identify the company. When I asked who this was again, she just gave her first name again, but no company.  Anyway, I don't have any warranties so none could be expiring. When I informed Jennifer of this, she thanked me and hung up. Obviously not legitimate, but at least she was not nasty when I shot her down.

I received a call on my landline number with a recorded message about "Obamacare" and options for people aged 50-85. As I'm not even in that target age range, I hung up immediately.

I'll be adding this area code/exchange to my block list.

Another BS clown I guess. I don't answer calls if I do not recognize name or number. As for the government 'do not call' list, it is a bad joke costing taxpayers. Another group of government do nothings. Look on line at the Forbes article 'Does the do not call list even work' article.

Consider getting a call blocking device or phone.. You can google them and many are around $40.00 or so. If its a cell phone, some already have call blocking, if not, there are free apps on the web that will work for some. You can google this. If you have a smart phone, there is a free app called call control. Iphones appear to have apps also. Another one is called Mr. Number. For tracfone & straight talk:

    https://www.straighttalkwirelessforum.com/viewtopic.php?f=6803&t=55006

For text messages: forwarding any text message spam you get to the short code  “7726,” which spells “spam” on most phones, to alert your network operator to the abuse. ATT won't accept 7726 But they will accept BLOCK and return a message that the web site is blocked. forward the texts to 7726 or BLOCK, depending on your phone carrier.
