- Anonymous| 4 repliesI've been receiving abandoned calls daily for a while. Very annoying. Finally found out who it is. The number answers with this automated message: "You have reached New Partners Teleservices - We specialize in state of the art Democratic fundraising and voter survey. If you wish to be added to our internal do not call database, please enter your 10-digit telephone phone number now." I wish these idiots would get it through their thick skulls that if I'm on the national do not call list I do not want to be called. Yes, they are exempt (political/survey) but do they really think I'm going to be sympathetic when I've already indicated I don't like to be called? Sheesh!

Never leave a message and who knows what they are really collecting for if they are. Assume above writer is correct. Returned call & said it was a fund raiser for variety of organizations. National Do Not Call Registry Q&A
http://www.consumer.ftc.gov/articles/0108-national-do-not-call-registry - Resident47 replies to Anonymous| 2 repliesI wish ignorant commentors would get it through their thick skulls that an exempt organization has no motivation or requirement to access the DNCR, therefore such exempt groups call with no awareness of registered numbers. Did you think the entire DNCR was automatically broadcast to every call center for nothing? The surveyor gave you an automated opt-out, and even that is not required. If it obeyed, you have nothing to complain about. "Sheesh!"
- Bob Buford replies to AnonymousI believe political calls are exempt for the Do Not Call. (DNC!) list. The Do Not Call list was created by politicians, they always exempt themselves.
- Jim Spaid replies to Resident47| 1 replyAh, not to worry, master "Resident", who really even pays much mind to THIS web-site, let alone ...YOUR phone calls? X)
Your comments are about as helpful as they are typically (politically?) off-base or apparently misguidedly ignorant themselves.
All anyone needs to know is that political calls are protected under our Constitution as 'freedom to organize' just as door-to-door visits are. If calling is proving so frustrating to the 'D.N.C.' {i.e. Democratic National Committee} why not get up off your over-stuffed, ideological [***] and 'block' the chronic cut-backs of Federal and State law-enforcement against phone solicitation frauds which they've so cleverly put THEMselves in competition with by effectively, financially preempting our civil rights? A 'D.N.C.' 'ass' you are, indeed, dear "surveyor". Otherwise, if the D.N.C. finds calling so much more lucrative than going door-to-door to actually 'survey' the damages your '2-party system's' done, any more ... "you have nothing to complain about", either--and with so-much-the-less 'civil right'. The REAL problem here is out-of-control campaign financing, isn't it just?
-Anyone seriously wonder that 'we the people' are positively LOATH to make any alleged 'politically correct' distinction anymore between campaign fund-raising and telemarketing scams by any other name? Hah.
= You've only got your own self-satisfied 'leadership' to blame. - Resident47 replies to Jim SpaidThe architects of our Constitution faced high barriers, the first of them being the prevailing opinion that government by consent was impossible. Obviously, said scoffing critics, the public is much too ignorant to be trusted with any power to nominate, elect, or reject their own leaders. Everyone who whines that the Do Not Call Registry does not function beyond its scope only proves that those long dead naysayers had a valid point.
If by next month we overhauled campaign finance practices to actually make them sane and equitable to all concerned, you would still be left with many millions of no-call registrants who were too impatient or inattentive to actually read the terms of a service they chose to use. These are the same people who don't read any of the contracts they sign, don't care how many companies learn and traffic their phone numbers, and blindly click "OK, OK, OK" for every online cookie request and process step. They invite the very nuisances they claim to hate, and point grubby fingers at "da gubment" for failing to wipe their rumps.
Before you go on insinuating that I'm on the take from these "New Partners", I'll point to my prior discussion of commercial fundraisers and the laws they are held to which give some leverage to call recipients.
