- DMT| 2 repliesThey claimed to be Navient, a Student Loan Company.
- Caller: Navient
- Call type: Debt collector
- Alfalfa replies to DMT| 1 replyNavient's contract with the Department of Education was axed the end of February:
http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2015/02/27/educ ... _n_6773286.html - nay| 1 replyThey call at least 4 or more times a day. I don't have a student loan.
And now they are trying to sell life insurance.- Caller: navient
- Call type: Debt collector
- BeckyThey call everyday. Caller ID says "Private". Never says anything.
- BobznkazooCompany is Navient, a Student Loan collection sub-contractor for the Department of Education. You would think that they would have to put their name in the Caller-ID.
- Caller: Navient
- Call type: Debt collector
- Bobznkazoo replies to AlfalfaNavient was NOT axed, only the following sub-contractors: Pioneer Credit Recovery, Coast Professional, Enterprise Recovery Systems, National Recoveries, and West Asset Management.
- Crissie3175505613 Calls here 24 hours a day 7 days a week! If its Navient they need to stop the Harassment! It doesnt make someone want to talk to them and they ain't even calling for me!
- KayThey say they are Navient, and I have a student loan so could conceivably have business with them. However, whenever they call me, it's from a different number every time. And caller ID just gives a state abbreviation, never a name. I figure if they want to talk to me, they can leave a message, and I will return the call to the number on the website. If they want people to pick up the call, it would make sense to put their name in the caller ID, and to call from a number that can be verified on their website, not random numbers from random states. jmo.
- Caller: Says they're Navient
- OSJBThey claimed to be Navient. I missed a call and kind of thought they were Navient so I called them back. When I finally got to someone on the other line she asked for my full social or account number. I didn't have my account number with me so she said the only way that she would be able to assist me is if I gave her my full social... Wasn't happening and when I started to put up a stink saying I wouldn't provide my social she hung up on me! No idea if this is or isn't Navient but that call made me super suspicious... My loans are up to date on their payments as well
- Caller: Navient
- Angie| 2 repliesCaller ID said Private caller. Nomo blocked it.
- Fed up| 2 repliesIt is Navient and the time that they left a message it was so fast I could not get the guys name or where he was from. No call back from me. I will call them because I do have student loans but I hate when the Dept of Education sent my loan to them. I work in the poorest state in the union and for the schools. I make nothing with a Master degree mmm wonder if they take my degree back. Wish they would wait for me to call. I am trying to get out of debt after being unemployed for 3 years and two surgeries and expensice medication. Now with doctors I have to pay co-pay, then deductible, then whatever the medical doctors can charge to recoup their money. I just need a little more time no way to live off one salary.
- Caller: Navient
- Call type: Debt collector
- Angie replies to AngieCalled again. Blocked again. :)
- Dan replies to Fed up| 1 replyI've been in a similar situation and have a large debt with student loans. If all the debt collection companies I have had to deal with Navient has been the most reasonable/flexible/helpful in dealing with my repayment! Once I explained where I was financially and the fact that I actually WANT to make payments but simply cannot because of the medical issues preventing me getting adequate work they have worked with me to get payments lowered and getting things like deferment to work for me.
- Dan replies to DanThe only complaint I have is that they rarely leave a message for me to return the call and the caller id doesn't tell me who it is!!
- NMNIt is Navient. If you have student loans and are behind on payments that could possibly be the reason for the calls.
- Caller: Navient
- Call type: Debt collector

Web page lists them in Wilkes Barre Pa, but the BBB has them in Delaware. Must be a heck of a drive every day for the mail: https://www.navient.com/about/contact-us/
BBB page 2,020 (not a typo) complaints, 32 negative reviews, and a government action and they still get an A+??? Wonder how much they are paying for that? http://www.bbb.org/delaware/business-reviews/ ... ton-de-92002017
Looks like lots of shady dealings going on there and lots of government actions against them:

Pioneer has lost their contract to collect student loans due to their criminal activity: http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2015/02/27/educ ... _n_6773286.html
Web page with contact information: https://pioneercreditrecovery.com/Contact.aspx
BBB page with 198 complaints and 6 negative reviews and a government action revoking their contract and a BS statement about the revocation of that contract but somehow still gets an A+??? (Probably because it is accredited and pays big bucks for that rating): http://www.bbb.org/upstate-new-york/business- ... arcade-ny-5664/
Pioneer is a Delaware corporation organized in December of 2001 unlike their web page that says 1980.

Federal law (FDCPA) requires them to send you a letter (US MAIL ONLY) within 5 days of their first contact that contains their name, physical address, the creditor’s name, and the amount of the alleged debt. It also must contains “mini-Miranda” telling you that it is an attempt to collect a debt and that all information will be used for those purposes. The one other important thing that this letter must also have in it is that you have a right to dispute the debt within 30 days receipt of the letter and if you do so, all collection activity must be stopped until the debt is verified.
Read up on your rights here, get template letters to send and also make a complaint at this government site: http://www.consumerfinance.gov/
Also file a complaint with your State Attorney General's office.
List of State AG’s offices: http://consumerfraudreporting.org/stateattorneygenerallist.php
File a complaint at the NY State AG's Office here: http://www.ag.ny.gov/ - DD replies to nayYou need to order your credit reports because someone may have used your name fraudulently as a co-signer on their student loan or someone has used your information. I would definitely check into it to nip it in the bud if there has been fraud, the sooner you start to correct/stop it, the better. Navient IS student loans through Sallie Mae. The last thing you need is your credit ruined and the government garnishing your paychecks! You can order your credit reports through AnnualCreditReport.com (don't use "Free"CreditReport etc, they're not free. Annual Credit Report.com is the free one. Also see http://clarkhoward.com for good consumer information - they even have a free consumer helpline you can call if you find out something bad has happened. Good luck!
