Another phone number with caller ID "Consumer Assist" dialing in with a robocall saying that they can help with credit card interest rates... Yeah, I bet they can. Added them to my CPR Call Blocker so they won't be able to bother me again.

I used to receive many many many calls from card holder services (Bridgette or other name), or there was the MS computer and several more.  That stopped last April.  I have many clients and friends and I have most in my cell phone address book:  I just made my default ringer "NONE" - then assigned ringer tone to each person in my address book.  If you, the one that is reading this called me and you are not in my address book but you wish to get in contact with me you will leave a message: Where as "Bridgette" will not.  My phone only rings for people in my address book where I have assigned a ring tone, all others, I'd never even know they called other than I see all of those missed calls on my screen if I look. It works so well at filtering calls I have even forwarded my office phone on home phone to my cell where the calls get filtered.  Yes, I may miss a long lost aunt's call or other but generally speaking they leave messages.  There are down sides to doing this, but the up side has been so great; I answer my phone again and don't have some robocall on the other end of the line.... 1. Set your phone default ringer to "None" 2. Take the time to go through your address book and assign a ringer (I used the same one) to all in the book.  3 Let yourself understand that you may miss a prospect's call or one from aunt Meg.

Got calls daily from same people sometimes using different numbers. Press 1 to talk to a scam artist and as they go into the sales pitch, ask them to hold on a second, put the phone down and leave it till they hang up. Enough of us do this and it will be too costly to do business. The do not call list is a joke.

I get a call from Bridget from Card Services EVERY DAY. I have requested through the automated system to be added to the do not call list numerous times. I have also requested to speak to someone and asked them to remove me from the list, and I get hung up on. And still receive calls. Even on weekends! I'm so beyond over this, I don't even have a credit card! So no, I don't need to lower my interest rate on a non-existent credit card.

Modern technology has given telespammers the tools to call you.
Lawbreaking telescammers ignore both the Do Not Call list and any request you might make.

Modern technology can also protect you, if YOU do a few simple things!
The most effective thing to do is to get a call blocking device, service or app.
Then, use it correctly.

Google "call blocker" for more information.  There are available apps (some free) for smart phones, and services and devices for landlines.

If you cannot use or afford such a tool, then click on the "Alternate Methods" button, below:
• Do not answer calls from unknown numbers ... let them go to voicemail or answering service.  Telespammers usually hang up after 3 or 4 rings.

• Do NOT return calls from unknown numbers!  All that does is verify your phone number, and make it more valuable to more spam groups!  And, in some cases, those return calls may cost $20 or more to complete. If the incoming call was important, they would have left a message!

• If you have a "dumb" cell phone, assign the scammer's number to a group named "scam" (or similar).  Then, assign a silent ringtone to that group. (This also works for smartphones).  The spammer will usually hang up before the phone goes to voicemail.

• Another option, for cell phones:  Assign a "silent ringtone" as DEFAULT.  Then, assign your favorite ringtones to all known friends / family / business numbers.  That way, you will hear rings ONLY from those you wish to contact!  You will not hear scammers' rings, even if they change their number!  (This is also called "whitelisting", and will cause you to miss calls from non-whitelisted numbers).
If you want to report potential fraudulent or scam calls, here are two pages of links to (mostly government) sites in Canada and the USA were you can report those scams, or learn more about them.

This number calls between 11:30 and 12:30 every single day.  I have a "Dumb Phone" and thus no apps or ability to block the call other than ignoring it.  At least they do not call while I am sleeping...yet! I am sure that will be their next ploy.

Have received a phone call from this number on multiple occasions. Upon answering, a recording tells me that I am losing an opportunity to lower my interest rates on my credit card (which doesn't exist). After hanging up on the number several dozen times, I decided to stay on the line. A message told me I was "13th" in line and then immediately "8th'' in line and miraculously "NEXT" in line. A young woman picked up the phone, said, "Do you currently owe $2000.00 or more in credit card debt?" I said, "I'd like to know what company I am speaking with." She said, "What?" I repeated the question. She said, "This is Jennifer, I'm calling with Credit Assistance." I repeated her name and the title of the company and she immediately hung up. When I called back, an automated response said, "To be added to a Do Not Call list, please press 1." You better believe I pressed 1.........
