call from 509-252-0739 claiming to be with IRS from Washington DC at 1111 Constitution Ave NW in D.C 20024.  509 is a Spokane, WA area code.  Asked for my cell and told them I did not have one.  Stated to leave me him on hold but don't hang up or IRS will enforce the warrant for my arrest.  Claimed I owed nearly $4,000.  Told me to go to bank and get cash then he would give me further instructions.  Was afraid of the charges that may be associated with the call so hung up.   SCAM!!!

These scamming criminals called my mother's home phone 2 times about 10-15 minutes apart. 1st call told her they were from the IRS and that she hadn't paid any of her taxes and were going to take her to court. 2nd call
said they were suing her for tax evasion and that she could be arrested and go to prison. Thank God my mother is smart enough to know when she's being scammed and hung up. So how do they get through if my mother is on the Do Not Call List? With American technology being so sophisticated and top notch above all other countries why haven't the Federal Trade Commission or other Federal agencies caught up to them?

The callers are located in India and Pakistan and as such are beyond the reach of US law.  Invest in a call blocker.

someone told me that the IRS had a warrant for my arrest and that a freeze would be put on my bank account and my credit cards. They told me that they had found where I was lying on my taxes and was looking at 15 year in prison. I knew it was a scam and told them if I could find out who they were that they would get more than the 15 year they were threatening me with. It must have offended them because they hung up on me. Imagine that, they did not want to talk anymore.

Do consider getting a call blocking device or phone.. You can google them and many are around $40.00 or so.If its a cell phone, some already have call blocking, if not, there are free apps on the web that will work for some. You can google this. If you have a smart phone, there is a free app called call control. Iphones appear to have apps also. Another one is called Mr. Number.

The DNC would not apply to the federal government agency's nor any kind of a debt collection anyway. The DNC is not a call blocker and does not protect you from from the illegal callers, extortion scammers, foreign country's and frauds. Criminals do not obey laws simply said.    They use spoofed numbers which make it hard to track them down.. it takes time to do this and many subpoenas for call records.

I came home to an automated message on my voicemail.  Needless to say, I did call the number and a person answered "hello"  I said someone left me a very serious and scary message from this number.  then she replied "IRS. Hold on"  .She hung up and when I tried it again several times later, the line was busy.  As a law abiding and tax paying American, I was and am really upset about this.
