- Get smart| 1 replyPeople must be doing something that makes cold calling and texting "worth it" to these companies. "Do Not Call" lists don't work. It helps to pay extra for an unpublished number on your land line, with caller I.D. They say not to answer calls you don't recognize, don't acknowledge it's a working #. Do not ever order the service or product they're calling about. This is exactly what does make their invasion worth it. And! Don't ever give more info about yourself! I'll tell you what, folks. I'm going to go back to the old fashion way of dealing with heavy breathing sexual deviants. Keep a whistle next to your phone and blow it as loud as you can every time you're bothered. They use technology so you can't trace the number they called out on. Let them risk something!
- Slim replies to Get smart>> "Do Not Call" lists don't work. It helps to pay extra for an unpublished number on your land line, <<
Sorry, both of those suggestions are ... um ... flat wrong.
The Do Not Call Registry is not a magic switch attached to your phone line, that will block calls. It is NOT a call blocking service.
The DNC list can help stop calls originating from legitimate, registered telemarketers who have paid to subscribe to the list.
* Your calls were not from legitimate, registered telemarketers.
* Therefore, the DNC list cannot stop those calls.

The DNC list does not automatically block calls. Instead, it provides a list of "do not call" phone numbers to telemarketers who registered their businesses with the FCC, and who pay a fee for the list. The DNC list administration is supported by these fees.
The DNC list exempts political callers, survey organizations, charities, and companies with preexisting business relationships, as well as debt collectors and certain nonprofit organizations, but these organizations usually have their own, internal Do Not Call list (ask them).
The DNC list is not effective against criminals, spammers and scammers, because those telescum are not registered, do not subscribe to the DNC list, and do not care if you are on or off that list.
It can stop calls from legitimate telemarketers, and it does a pretty good job at that. Just think ... if there were no DNC, you would be receiving incessant calls from BOTH legitimate and spamming telemarketers!
The DNC itself has no enforcement authority - they forward complaints to the appropriate agency.
There is no significant drain on your tax dollar because the DNC is funded by the fees they charge registrants.

The following page states the FCC's DNC Registry applies to both intrastate and interstate telemarketing calls:

However, to confuse things, this page states the DNC Registry applies only to interstate telemarketing calls:

Remember, the FCC's Do Not Call site is a good one to report unwanted calls from LEGITIMATE telemarketers. To report spammers and scammers, visit the FTC site, at https://www.ftccomplaintassistant.gov/
Read the above sentence again.
If you want to report a specific scam to the appropriate government site,
Look here first:

If the reporting site you wanted is not in the above list, try this one:

If you receive calls even after reporting them (and waiting a sufficient time), then you should consider using a call blocker app, device or service as your first line of defense. Google "call blocker" to see such things at Amazon or other sites.
√ - Laurelei BallardGot a text claiming they were a friend and saw how I was listed on someone else's phone and gave a link to check it out. I did not. Know none at this number and when I looked it up found a similar complaint. I think it may have come from someone I contacted on Craigslist because the reference was one based on an ad I placed looking for a specific product.

- Mary| 1 replyI guess they now need a DO NOT TEXT list.
- Call type: Text message
- Slim replies to MaryDo not respond to unwanted texts or emails from questionable sources. Several mobile service providers will allow you to report unwanted spam texts by simply forwarding them to 7726 (or “spam”) to enable the providers to prevent future unwanted texts from the specific sender.
TIP:
Put 7726 in your contact list, so you can easily forward those unwanted texts!
