Called the number back Diversified Consultants a bill collector

I got a call at 1:45 and I was in class so it was embarrassing and I don't know who this is.

Diversified Consultants is a collection agency. I called them back and they are looking for someone else...they said that they have taken me off their list

Federal law (FDCPA) requires them to send you a letter (US MAIL ONLY) within 5 days of their first contact that contains their name, physical address, the creditor’s name, and the amount of the alleged debt.  It also must contains “mini-Miranda” telling you that it is an attempt to collect a debt and that all information will be used for those purposes.  The one other important thing that this letter must also have in it is that you have a right to dispute the debt within 30 days receipt of the letter and if you do so, all collection activity must be stopped until the debt is verified.

First, BigA, THANK YOU! That is great info. Here is what little I can add. They seem to spoof their calls because I get the same silent calls from the following numbers, all similar to this one: 614-591-7491, -7502, -7399, -7451,  and I think 614-441-9425 (because it is in the same series as one that BigA posted. All of these are just silent calls. No way so many people with all the nearly same number would be calling me. Also, I got a call from 614-591-7440 which was not silent. It was cheesy music followed by a man with a foreign accent asking for me by name (to my voicemail). Then, an hour and 13 minutes later I got a call from 719-941-8239 with the same cheesy music (but nothing else) so I think that both of the cheesy music calls are also from the same place. They seem to follow a pattern for the most part. They use one number for a day or two, making anywhere from one to five calls, then they move on to another number and repeat.Also, they usually call in the morning and never later than 2:48 pm. It must be that 3:00pm is their quitting time, if they are in EDT time zone.
