Supposedly a debt collector-looking for someone else

Calling every hour for 3 days. Have no idea who this is. As a very senior person, it is very annoying.

There is a scam occurring. An automated system claims they are the IRS and that legal proceedings are beginning against you for your inability to pay your IRS debt. They threaten you with a statement that says a lien is being placed against your assets and you bank accounts in 24 hours. They also inform you that a bill collection officer will be coming to you to fill the paperwork out for the proceeding. ITS A SCAM, IRS DOES NOT FUNCTION IN THIS MANNER!!! DO NOT GIVE THEM ANY INFORMATION ABOUT YOU INCLUDING YOUR NAME. IF THEY CALL YOU, DO NOT FEAR, GO ON LINE AND FILE A COMPLAINT WITH THE Treasury Inspector General for Tax Administration at: www.tigta.com. Go to the red box at the upper right of the page that says IRS Impersonation Scam Reporting and click on it to file your report. Dont let these scum bags dupe you out of anything. They are using a host of different 800 #.

Just a trivial junk debt collector calling and hanging up. Just ignore them; they can't do a thing! Better yet, block them, as I just did!!

Federal law (FDCPA) requires them to send you a letter (US MAIL ONLY) within 5 days of their first contact that contains their name, physical address, the creditor’s name, and the amount of the alleged debt.  It also must contains “mini-Miranda” telling you that it is an attempt to collect a debt and that all information will be used for those purposes.  The one other important thing that this letter must also have in it is that you have a right to dispute the debt within 30 days receipt of the letter and if you do so, all collection activity must be stopped until the debt is verified.
