This may be linked to the "Local Office" calls that have been harassing people for several years from various spoofed caller ID numbers.  See the thread for 800-824-6191.  https://800notes.com/Phone.aspx/1-800-824-6191/17

Have received several calls at BAD HOURS from 615-647-0360.   No messages left.  Finally called the number back and it is apparently a collection agency.   I say apparently because they WILL NOT identify themselves!   They just start asking you for your name and social security number!  Unbelievable!   Have blocked them.

This number called me twice today!  I believe they have before.  I don't answer to any "unknown" callers.  Something needs to be done to make this illegal.

They keep calling my phone. This number along with a slew of other unidentified long distance numbers. I never answer. They never leave a message, today was the first time I actually tried to call them back and received a busy tone on the other end. Looked it up and here you all are going through the same thing. My only guess is that my neighbor submitted to be apart of a vacation giveaway. Where all you had to do was come in and they would do a 90 minute presentation and you'd win a vacation somewhere. (without my consent) and ever since then I've been getting those calls. Needless to say, my  neighbor and I have a problem. They're bothering me. I'm going to bother her...lol.

Your callers do not maintain this site or this web page. You cannot expect compliance with your orders until you deliver them DIRECTLY to your caller.

Ms. Richardson, what you're asking is absurdly impossible. No one reading here can conjure a personal phone number from thin air or exercise your rights for you. That's not what a mystery call site like this is for. Ending the calls from debt collectors is *your job*, and it's not hard when the offending agency has an easily found Nevada address ready to receive your written notice by Certified Mail.

FNCB is a debt collector, not a timeshare sales operation. You don't know that your neighbor is involved at all. FNCB could be skip tracing for a stranger, or it has a debt account with your name on it. Either way your primary problem is with that collection agency and not some drama between fences.

The "local office" Caller ID name tag (or CNAM) is indeed a favorite of Nevada debt collector First National Collections Bureau. I'm thinking hard about raising a FDCPA issue over that misleading CID, as there is nothing "local" about phone calls which cross time zones.

FNCB is no stranger to illegal tactics. In 2009 FNCB was smacked in Dallas for $147k by a unanimous jury verdict for TCPA violations. I'm not sure they ever paid. Even if not, their own demands for debt payments continue apace.

I would guess your adopted number was linked to some alleged debtor and FNCB's feelers detected its reactivation. To halt the misfired skip trace calls, laying a paper trail is far more effective than verbal denials. My advice for "not me" cases is found here:

Just an aside here, turning out your empty pockets doesn't make a debt claim go away. You have to raise disputes and defend yourself as state and federal laws permit.

Whether you are called a debtor or some collector thinks you can flush one out, you have rights and options. Many are simple to exercise if you only learn how. You are entitled to proof of claim and fair treatment. If one or the other is not provided, the collection agency should *not* win your assets. You are granted control of how you are contacted, the right to dispute debt claims, and the means to sue violators at low cost. The FTC and the CFPB can start you on your homework. See also if your state laws grant additional or stronger rights.

I live in Kentucky, and I have been getting 2-3 phone  calls at various times that  should be illegal to  disturb people before 7 AM and after 8 PM. They never say anything, and I have said Hello  in more than one language, but all I get is silence followed by a static sound, then they disconnect. I have tried calling the number back to try and find out who is calling me, but when I call it doesn't work.  No ringing, busy signal or anything, just silence . I'm so tired of these people disrupting my sleep, and my personal time.

Similar experience to what is described above.  Phone rings; I answer; complete silence.  Finally I called back.  My call was answered by a male who identified himself and stated that he works for First National Collection Bureau.  I simply stated that I had recently got several calls from this number and I wanted it to stop.  He stated that my number will be taken off their call list.  Oddly, he did not ask for my name.  When I asked him what the call was about, he did state the name of the person he wanted to contact -- not me .  I told him that I knew nothing about that person.

Actually, the calls do not annoy me very much and I can deal with them -- either block or answer and not cooperate, depending on my mood.  My question is this:
Does anyone understand why this company (or this individual) would call in the first place if, when the phone is answered, they do not say anything?  Seems like a total waste to me.

The hang-ups are basically just robocalls that don't play a message.  Whether you hear a recording or not, you see the number on your phone over and over again and eventually call it back.  Legally it's no better than a robocall, but without a recorded message there isn't as much incriminating evidence.  Same reason they use a Tennessee phone number to call you from Nevada.  If a little bit of obfuscation cuts down the TCPA lawsuits by 10%, or causes complaints to be filed in the wrong state, it's worth it to them.
