Caller claimed in obviously recorded message that his name was Steve Martin (!!). Call was in reference to U.S Department of Treasury enforcement action, failure to respond to second (??) effort to initiate contact could result in penalties. Message requested call-back at this same number in order to receive assistance in this matter. Clearly a scam call - message replayed itself three times before cutting off.

This is a scam/phishing attempt.  Caller (Steve Martin) claims call is in reference to a criminal investigation by the US Treasury, and threatens action and appearance before a magistrate judge if call is ignored.  The IRS/Treasury will NEVER call with such threats.

Continues to call from two numbers.  One number is spoofed as California and the other New York.  In reality, they are most likely calling from India or Pakistan (based on the thick accent).  Do not return the telephone call unless you want to be verbally abused with bad English grammar.  Report these calls to the Treasury Inspector General.

Called threatened me claiming this was an issue regarding us treasury dept and that I must call him re enforcement action  No federal statue cited. this guy is a scam artist and should be stopped

I am just logging in to raise the count on this number.  Maybe, just maybe, someone in the federal government looks at these pages to see how many people get calls from a particular number.  Whenever I report a call like this to the Do Not Call FCC number, I always report how many pages of 800notes.com complaints there are.

Other than that, my experience with this call was exactly the same as Steve's on Jan 6, 2016.

I received the same call as being described by "Steve Martin." Called back and talked to a lady named "Stella" with a heavy accent. Obvious scam, laughed at her as she told me how I was going to be arrested. Always have paid my taxes so I knew this was a scam to begin with. Report these fools.

Avoid calling back in case this is an off-shore 888 kind of scam where you are also charged by the minute.  Text of the call received:  "Hi.  This message is intended to contact you. My name is Steve Martin and I am calling regarding an enforcement actions as issued by US Treasury intending your pursuit attention.  Ignoring this will be an intentional second attempt to avoid initial appearance before a Magistrate judge or a grand jury for the federal criminal offense. My number is 646-757-1286. I repeat, 646-757-1286. I advise you to cooperate with us and help us to help you. Thank you."

Most of these calls are coming from India and Pakistan.  Unless those governments cooperate with ours, they will continue on..

Do consider getting a call blocking device or phone.. You can google them and many are around $40.00 or so.If its a cell phone, some already have call blocking, if not, there are free apps on the web that will work for some. You can google this. If you have a smart phone, there is a free app called call control. Iphones appear to have apps also. Another one is called Mr. Number.

I got the same message today .... same number ... same Steve Martin .... Treasury enforcement .... heavy accent and bad English.   Clearly a SCAM.   I will be reporting this to the Treasury Inspector General.

This a big scam report them and warn others post this on face book anywhere so others do not fall for this scam. They are useing a spoof numbers they in a call center in a different country. Or show the police this

Thanks to everyone for the heads-up regarding these scammers.  We received an early morning phone call from these crooks.  I did not pick up the phone.

I keep getting these calls from Steve Martin, from the US Treasury.
