Calls & hangs up. One returned call from Caller ID on a Saturday is answered by female voice in British accent: "Sorry. Our offices are closed," then disconnects.

I answered the phone without looking to see what number showed up.
The man on the other end asked for (****) a man by name.
I asked who he was calling,  he said the name again.  He turned very rude and said he called for -man's name-
and didn't need my attitude.  I asked again who he was calling for and he hung up.
This number calls several times a day.
I have noticed that after I put our phone number on the "Do Not Call" list, the majority of our calls are harassing telemarketers.

Got a call from this number.  They left a message which was some guy saying "Mmmmm" and then someone in the background saying something I couldn't understand.  Then they hung up.

I've had 188 calls from this number.  I've reported it to donotcall.gov a couple times but it continued.  According to reverse directories the carrier is Level 3 Communications LLC – MN, but they have been unresponsive.

Female who speaks with accent as if from India, claiming to be "officer Janet Brown" left this phone #(866)978-8332 saying that if she does not hear from us or our attorney soon all she can do is "wish us  good luck as things unfold badly for us." Of course, she did not mention our name(s), but would have our name on caller ID if we called back!  She ends with a cheery "take care"! Sheez! No other details, just the implied threat of trouble. Sad that they might actually fool someone and bilk $ from them.

Extortion Scam Related to Delinquent Payday Loans

    Washington, D.C.
December 07, 2010  FBI National Press Office
    (202) 324-3691

The Internet Crime Complaint Center has received many complaints from victims of payday loan telephone collection scams. Callers claim the victim is delinquent in a payday loan and must repay the loan to avoid legal consequences. The callers purport to be representatives of the FBI, Federal Legislative Department, various law firms, or other legitimate-sounding agencies. They claim to be collecting debts for companies such as United Cash Advance, U.S. Cash Advance, U.S. Cash Net, and other Internet check-cashing services.

According to complaints received from the public, the callers have accurate data about victims, including Social Security numbers, dates of birth, addresses, employer information, bank account numbers, and the names and telephone numbers of relatives and friends. How the fraudsters obtained the personal information varies, but in some cases victims have reported they completed online applications for other loans or credit cards before the calls started.

The fraudsters relentlessly call the victim’s home, cell phone, and place of employment. They refuse to provide any details about the alleged payday loans and become abusive when questioned. The callers have threatened victims with legal actions, arrests, and, in some cases, physical violence if they do not pay. In many cases, the callers harass victims’ relatives, friends, and employers.

Received a call from this number asking for "XXXXXX".  When asked who's calling?  He said he could call back another time and quickly hung up.  In calling back the number a recording of a woman with a British accent says "Sorry. Our offices are closed," then disconnects.

I just gave this number a "Silent" ring tone with no vibrate or LED flash and hope it calls me every minute since it will only chew up their bandwidth.

Same thing, called, 2 minutes ago. No one on the line when I answered, and when I called back, woman with accent (British?) said "sorry, our offices are closed.  Please try again later."  I don't think that's legal in MN, must be able to contact and get off their list.

    Angry at the FCC
After dozens of calls from this number, all of them hangups, I am FURIOUS that with all the complaints lodged above the FCC refuses to do anything to put this number and its owners out of business.  If I could find a physical address for the number, I would drive there myself and ask local law enforcement to intervene.

Is there NOTHING we can do to stop such abuse via the phones?!

Over the past three years this number seems to randomly call almost daily over a 1-2 month period. We have caller I.D. and don't answer unless we recognize the number. If it's not important enough for them to clearly identify themselves on caller I.D. or leave a message, then it's not important enough for me to deal with them either.

This caller left a message that said only, "Jeff is turning into quite a revolutionary"...and that was all he said.  I have a son-in-law named "Jeff:" so it rather scared me.
