Same message as above.  "IRS"  Pretty sure it is a scam

they answer the number on a return call as IRS

Automated call asking to call the IRS before there are consequences of legal action

Been getting this call for a couple days now, automated voice saying to back before legal action from IRS. After calling back twice an indian guy from the IRS answers and doesnt know what is going on and hangs up.

Do consider getting a call blocking device or phone.. You can google them and many are around $40.00 or so.If its a cell phone, some already have call blocking, if not, there are free apps on the web that will work for some. You can google this. If you have a smart phone, there is a free app called call control. Iphones appear to have apps also. Another one is called Mr. Number.

CONFIRMED SCAM DO NOT RESPOND. The first contact from the real Internal Revenue Service is always by MAIL

I have rec'd 2 of these calls within 48 hours. One from 714-512-3123 and one from 714-410-2014. Both use the automated IRS message. My first alert is that a legitimate IRS call will not come from a cell phone. I wanted to get more information to create an informative post for those of us who know this is a scam. I was never able to get through on the 410-2014 number, however, the 512-3123 number did work and I spoke to a man with an Indian accent.

First red flag: He asked for my phone number and then said it wasn't in his system. He then asked for a cell phone or other number I use. I think this is probably a phishing scam to get personal info so they can access online accounts or commit identity fraud.

Second red flag: I told him I only have a land line and that is my only number. He said that's impossible because they never left a message that line. I then asked him if there was no message how did I get his 714-512-3123 number? He didn't have a response to that

Third red flag: I asked if this is the IRS, he said yes. I then asked are you the Internal Revenu Service of the US Goverment? There was a pause, I could hear people in the background and then he said very quietly "yes."

Fourth red flag: Another Indian man took over the call with me; much more polished than the first man. He said in order to access the nature of our business with you I need your phone number. I said I already provided that. He said the number you provided isn't in our database so it's not possible that you rec'd a message. I said would you like me to play it for you? How else did I get your number?

Fifth red glag: They hung up

Clearly this isn't a legitimate call from the Internal Revenue Service. This is what I found on https://www.irs.gov "If someone calls unexpectedly claiming to be from the IRS with aggressive threats if you don't pay immediately, it's a scam artist calling,” said IRS Commissioner John Koskinen. "The first IRS contact with taxpayers is usually through the mail. Taxpayers have rights, and this is not how we do business."

Got 3 calls in 24 hours. Didn't answer any of them. Got the threat that they were the IRS and if I didn't do something about this, legal action would be taken!  I was worried until I remembered that I heard the IRS doesn't call you, they mail you the bad news!  Read all the posts, now I'm sure it was a scam.

They called with automated message.. "This is time sensitive.. Blah blah something about and attorney" saying they were the irs.. Called back and the number is disconnected. Deff a scam. Half of these weird numbers that call u are a scam. Always look up a number before u start to worry! & im so sorry to say this but half the time that I got a call from " an Indian guy" like others on here, it always turns out to be a scam..

No this is no way the IRS when I called back he asked my name and was very rude and told me he was going to send the sheriff and police to my house to arrest me....but when I asked why or what this was about he hung up on me.....

same as above called by this person to be a IRS agent and threatening federal law suit for attempting to evade paying taxes.
