hey! i received the same fax today afer looking it up further i just knew it was a scam thanks.

This is a scam.  I also confirmed it.  Don't answer the fax.

I recieved a fax from a MarkAnthony Mcguiness,and the whos who staff.I almost fell for it,until my wife saw it she told me to check in to it.Now I'm here!

But what exactly is the 'scam' for the Presidential Who's Who fax anyway?  does anyone know what happens when you do fax back the application?  Just curious.

I believe (I haven't checked it out, but I believe...) that you give them your informaiton and they will include you in a book (for free!) and offer you a plaque and certificate with your name on it. No charge to have your name in a book, but if you want said book, plaque and certificate, then you have to pay upwards of $800.

They must get some people since if you type in "Presidential Who's Who..." into Google you'll see that some professionals have included it as an award they've recieved on their website (I saw a real estate broker and a lawyer). Save yourself the headache and money, and if you really want to, just say that you were "selected as a 2009 Who's Who...", which isn't lying. This letter right here in front of me says I was selected!

I recieved one from "2009 Edition of Who's Who Among Executives, Professionals, and Entrepreneurs in Canada" from "Jennifer Rivera" saying I was selected on Dec 3rd; and another one (almost right afterwards) from "Presidential Who's Who Among Business and Professional Achievers" from "Mark A. McGuiness" saying I was selected on October 24th.

It'd be a lot more impressive if they actually took the time to find my name and put it on instead of addressing me as "Owner/Manager" or "Managing Director". My name is in the public domain, and not hard to find. It'd probably drum up more business for them. I guess I shouldn't be telling them how to dupe more people into their scam.

Thanks for your postings.  I was sure this was a scam but it is good to see that there is a lot of opinion out there supporting my theory.

Looks like they're at it again. Just received a fax from MarkAnthony McGuiness (at 888-494-6794) spouting nearly the same garbage that everyone's talked about. Had to laugh since they don't know the company owner's name or any of our employees. Kinda odd, too, that at the top of the fax showing when the fax was sent and the number it was sent from . . . how 'bout that . . . it was sent from our fax number to our fax number from Presidential Who's Who!

Off to the FTC site . . .

It's in Australia too.  Jennifer Rivera, (02) 8088 7366.  There is nothing on the sheet to show who it's from and I personally wouldn't touch it!  It's one of those "it's a bill, so we'll pay for it" type of scams.

This scam has made its way to Australia, under the name Who's who among executives, professionals and Entrepreneurs in Australia (from Jennifer Rivera and a Sydney Fax number).

What i think happens is that you fax back and you are charged for the fax (something like $25)

Yep the scam has now definitely hit the Aussie shores, - this chick Jennifer Rivera as you say only has a fax number and no company name, these guys are so covert and operate "in the shadows" - anything to get advertising. The sad thing is people will fall for this scam.

mm pretty sus, recieved this fax today .. if they really thought this much of our business they could have at least addressed their correspondence directly to us!  needless to say we won't be responding!

I also received it today and was sus about it. I don't know that they can charge you to reply as it is only an 02 fax number not a 1900 one?
