    I finally answered the call, I've gotten a few myself. He did say he was from Verizon Wireless, and that as a valued customer since 2001, I was being chosen to receive an early upgrade for my phone and a new contract.

    The phone was cheap AND you can get it from Amazon.com for the same "free" price with a new contract. I don't know what these guys are trying to pull, but i wouldn't bother answering... It's all b.s. as far as I'm concerned!

    I got called the other day and made a supervisor get on the phone- He confirmed that Verizon was calling me for an early renewal and that there was no scam- he also apoligized for the repeated calls saying that sometimes the computer will dial too fast and hang up on customers- said it was an error and they were working on it. I asked why didn't VZ leave me a message- he said they don't want to bother me with a message.

    Have received numerous calls from this number over the last couple of weeks. Finally picked up, told the caller that we are on the National Do Not Call List and asked to be taken off their list. The caller replied "let me put you on with a supervisor"!!! I asked if she was crazy, told here we did not want ANY unsolicited calls and repeated my request to be taken off the list before hanging up.

    I just got another call from this number. I never answer the phone because anyone that means anything to me calls my cell.. I looked up the # and got this complaint page.. Screw telemarketers and their mothers.

    I have received this call at work, which is inexcusable.  Found this post as I was looking up the number to see before answering.  Next time it rings I WILL answer, and make sure I am taken off the list as well.

    Looks like the caller or automation may use this number and if you don't answer will try 800-670-4912. I received calls from both these numbers within seconds of each other. No one on the line when you answer the phone.

    Just received my first call from this number.  My contract with verizon has expired and perhaps the post that addresses that is why I'm getting a call from this number?  If it continues, I'll find an online do not call list and request they leave me alone.  If it is a contract service of verizon, I'll contact verizon and let them know that if they want to keep my business, they had better call off their dogs.

    They called me every day for a week, too, at all hours, weekdays, weekends... I am on hold with Verizon Wireless right now but the customer service person confirmed that this IS an outsourced company associated with them.  

    However, I ordered a new phone through them, and it seems they have no record of this at Verizon!!!  Annoying!

    I just received a missed call from this number.  George who posted on May 10, 2007 took the words right out of my mouth.  I guess Verizon is trying again to get me to purchase their "upgrade".

    This number called me once the other night. I'm wary of 800 numbers or numbers that don't show up, but I accidentally picked up without checking the caller ID on my cellphone, assuming it was someone else, and got a Verizon Wireless woman.
    She answered right away, and started her spiel on me renewing my contract and getting a free phone, blah blah blah.
    I didn't get any hang ups or silences, however, she was just a normal telemarketer. Annoying and insistent (I don't want to upgrade my phone right now!) but other than that nothing out of the norm.

    I have received this same call at least three times a day for the past several weeks both at home and at work. Even when I answer, they hang up! The stupid part of it all is that I already upgraded my phone and signed a new agreement 3 weeks ago!!! What the heck do they want now?

    Same thing happened to me, they called me about 3-4 times in a matter of a week, then i upgraded my phone with an actual verizon store, and for about 3 weeks havent heard anything from the 800 # and now i just got a missed call from them again, which trying to look at who belongs to that # brought me to this page.  I had told an actual verizon rep about this, and she spoke to her supervisor who said that they should not be harrassing pple, and they were going to look into it. guess i have to call verizon again, i have never heard of this happening to any other wireless carrier customer, and up until 2 months ago, i was never bothered, and i have had verizon for over 4 years now.

    found it it's supposed to be verizon's renewal line. they called to let you know that your contract is about to be up.
