Got a recorded message from these people, called the number back to inquire but could not get a live person.(My brother has been arrested several times over the years-all alcohol related episodes!-and the real jails have a recorded message that INCLUDES the inmates name that is trying to call you,to reverse charges)
     It's definately a scam!

It isn't a scam, my father called from it today, they give then 1 free minute to talk to your loved one. You have to use your credit card (since its over the phone) to put minutes to be able to talk to them...

This company called 3 times today.  Twice squawking "Unknown".  Third time squawking this number.  I can account for all of my relations and none of them are receiving three hots and a cot courtesy of a correctional facility.  Getting to be annoying as hell.

I was at my computer when my Home Phone and my cell phone both rang at almost the same instant.  This number showed on both caller IDs.  I could have put one phone on each ear but I didn't.  I later found out one of my grand kids wanted to get bailed out from jail--probably what the calls were about.--I never immediately answer Toll free numbers but call back after I first check who they are.  Tired in Texas.

    Why Me?
For two days I have got seven calls from the HCJC local jail wanting me to accept a collect call. Local number but they don't give a name. 513 836-8133. I tried to call Justice center to advise my phone does not accept collect calls. No one answered. Today I got a call from 1 800-483-8314 wanting me to give credit card info to set up account. I think this is a scam. I don't know anyone in jail & I want the calls to stop.

It's not  scam, a friend of mine was arrested and the only way for her to call me is collect but i only have a cell phone. Can't call collect on a cell phone.

The company's name is Tollfreeforwarding.com and their customer service number is 888-452-1505, if you want to talk to a real person.

BTW, they offer a 30 day free trial and you can cancel at any time.

If it is legit and trying to call my cell, then why did the recorded message call my house phone?  No, thanks.  If one of my friends really did land their stupid self in jail, they can call the old fashioned way - collect where the LIVE operator tells you the name of the caller.  I know the procedure, as my next friend's son has been locked up many times for drug-related charges.  His last call to Jer was March of this year, so I don't figure things have changed much since then.  I call bs -scam or someone who doesn't know how to dial a phone.  But I am leaning toward scam.

Yesterday, I got a call from this number on my cell. The day before, I got at least 16 calls from a different number (713) 568-6986. Did a search and found out that both numbers are from Global Tel Link or inmates making calls. I don't answer unknown calls from my cell, especially out-of-area calls. They did leave one incomplete voicemail message and it was an automated prerecorded message asking me to call an 800 number, and the message cuts off from there. I do have a cousin in prison, but I don't even talk to that person. Maybe it was an inmate dialing the wrong number. Either way, I don't want them bothering me. The numbers are now on my call blocking app and call block voicemail service.

It was freaky, the caller 800-483-8314, called before a relative went to jail. They asked if I wanted to set up an account. Questionable, at best.

Its not a scam. One of my friends was arrested and tried calling, and this number is the number that sets up payments for calls from inmates.

Yes, it is definitely a scam. If you call that number they have you on caller ID and make it sound as though they are associating that phone number with an "offender" (as they call it). Then they ask you to set up an account for the "offender" by pressing "1". If you press that they ask you for your credit card number but never give you the name or other identifying information for the "offender". It is definitely a scam. If you give them your credit card number you will be ripped off. It will not be applied to anyone you know.

It is a scam. There are legitimate ways to put money on someone's books but this is not one of them. If you don't know if someone you care about has been arrested there are legitimate ways to find that out too. Most correctional facilities have information on their websites about how to check if someone you know is in jail. Setting up an account to make phone calls from jail is ludicrous. Think it through. All the phones inmates have access to are pay phones. How do you set up or post money for a random pay phone??? They usually have access to more than one pay phone so which one does your money go to? It would never work like that.

Got a call at work from this number.  Total scam.  I don't know anybody in jail, and if somebody I know went to jail, they would know my cell number, not my work number. Nobody has my work number that would call from jail if they got arrested.   Ridiculous!!
