I got a call this morning saying my social security number is under investigation and I owe 699.00 and if I didn't pay the full amount today I owe 999.00 with a payment plan and that I needed to go to the nearest CVS Pharmacy to get a green dot card to make the payment.  He even said federal officials were listening to our call when I called back and that if I didn't resolve this matter today I could get 6-12 months in jail.  Are these guys legit or is it a for sure scam?  He said to call back tomorrow with $250.00 on green dot money voucher to 804-858-4217 ext 9898.  I don't know what to do.

Received a call on my home phone from a guy with an Indian accent named "Officer John Smith"  who said he was from the Federal Trade Commission.  I asked him if he was from the Government Agency known as the Federal Trade Commission.  He said yes.  I then took down his # - 804-858-4217 ext 121.  I then used my cell phone to dial back the number and the same guy answered as "John Smith with American Consolidation Services".  So I challenged him saying "I thought you told me you were with the Federal Trade Commission? Now you're saying American Consolidation Services."  I then told him that what he's doing is illegal and that I was going to report it.  Then I hung up.  He called me back and said in his thick Indian accent, "You are going to make me lose my temper!  That address where you are, I am going to send a team of cops!"  I laughed and said "a team of cops?  Really?"  and hung up.  I'm still waiting for the team of cops to show up. LOL.

Received a call from this number today claiming to be from the Criminal Investigative Department and that I am being charged on 3 criminal counts. I refused to talk without my attorney for which he got mad saying that I was very rude and will send   local police to arrest and imprison me.

    Observations: very thick accent
Claims: IRS Fraud, immigration fraud and misleading federal government

Please watch out. I immediately called the investigative department at the local PD and they assured me it is a scam.

ok guys I have been getting calls from this Indian guy saying they have 3 warrants for my arrest. Apparently he works for THE FBI lol.. Guys I am a police officer which I didn't tell him that.. All I did was laugh when I asked him where I can turn myself in and hey just named some random state. DO NOT SEND THESE PEOPLE MONEY... DO NOT GIVE INFORMATION.. SCAM....SCAM. These scams happen very often and believe it or not people acutally fall for it and send money and expect the police department to do something about it. Chances are they are probably in some coffee place in India where they have wifi making these phone calls.  A real police officer looking for you with arrest warrant will have a number that you can look up on the citie/county/state website. The only arrest warrants that have a fine are class C tickets (traffic tickets) anything hire you would have to go to court to pay Police officers will never take your money over the phone they will direct you to the court that have jurisdiction over those parents for payments.

Called and left a message for my husband. Very heavy Indian accent. I could barely understand it. Left this number. he said he was from a special division of the Crime Investigation Bureau and there is an investigation being conducted on my husband and my physical address. Yea right? The police can come here, and we will be happy to talk to them since we haven't done anything wrong.

Extortion Scam Related to Delinquent Payday Loans

    Washington, D.C.
December 07, 2010  FBI National Press Office
    (202) 324-3691

The Internet Crime Complaint Center has received many complaints from victims of payday loan telephone collection scams. Callers claim the victim is delinquent in a payday loan and must repay the loan to avoid legal consequences. The callers purport to be representatives of the FBI, Federal Legislative Department, various law firms, or other legitimate-sounding agencies. They claim to be collecting debts for companies such as United Cash Advance, U.S. Cash Advance, U.S. Cash Net, and other Internet check-cashing services.

According to complaints received from the public, the callers have accurate data about victims, including Social Security numbers, dates of birth, addresses, employer information, bank account numbers, and the names and telephone numbers of relatives and friends. How the fraudsters obtained the personal information varies, but in some cases victims have reported they completed online applications for other loans or credit cards before the calls started.

The fraudsters relentlessly call the victim’s home, cell phone, and place of employment. They refuse to provide any details about the alleged payday loans and become abusive when questioned. The callers have threatened victims with legal actions, arrests, and, in some cases, physical violence if they do not pay. In many cases, the callers harass victims’ relatives, friends, and employers.

I got a call from people claiming to be CIA for an IRS fraud I apparently commited. Initially Jack Anderson (804 858 4217) - spoke and gave me my warrant #. Then he transferred me to his supervisor John William Batch Code - 621. He said that the police will be coming to my doorstep in an hour. Then gave me a vague rundown on my case with no specific information. They have my home phone number, address and full name. He wanted to transfer me to Daniel Wilson - Homeland Security Division head at 618 715 9235 and I refused.

They are for sure people calling from India. Additional info from another forum:

Wow they are getting good! Same guy, I strung him along for 45 min just messing with him, being a wise a$$. He even wanted to get me for insulting a Federal agent and knew all the book codes citing the crime. I don't see how an elderly person could hold up if they were in doubt. Sad. Funny you can't roll a stop sign when no ones around but you can scare the less then decerning out of their life savings. Hope what they threaten people with happens to them.
