An obvious but very annoying scam.

They call and leave a message that you have a criminal case outstanding and that this is the final notice.  You are told to call and when you do, a few clicks (re-routing your call), and you end of with some foreigner asking for your case number.

The recording must have started while my outgoing message was playing.  But I did hear "case number" and the above listed phone number to call.  I'm happy my answering machine didn't get the whole message.  This is definitely a scam because anything of a federal nature or criminal capacity would not be done by a recorded voice message!  I would think certified mail would be appropriate.

A partial message was left on my answer machine. A lot of threats if I didn't act now. I called out of curiosity. Wasn't surprised that someone with a East Indian accent answered. I asked them what it was all about. They asked for case number which didn't come over on machine. They asked for my name and said it could be for a variety of reasons including the IRS. I said are you kidding me! I proceeded to tell them to scam off.

This is a scam.

Didn't answer. Let it go to my fax machine.

Scam!  Normally these calls go directly to my fax machine but for some reason it was off today.   Caller left computerized voice message that said I was wanted on five illegal counts.  If I wanted to settle the matter I needed to call them back or best they can do is wish me luck.  lol.   Fax is back on and ringer turned to mute.

Called left message to call number. Called back never rang on the other end. Message said something about a magestrate

Same thing happened to me, said it was the U.S. Treasury and final notice. Definitely a scam!

Do consider getting a call blocking device or phone.. You can google them and many are around $40.00 or so.If its a cell phone, some already have call blocking, if not, there are free apps on the web that will work for some. You can google this. If you have a smart phone, there is a free app called call control. Iphones appear to have apps also. Another one is called Mr. Number.
