said the were with los angeles business tax but they sounded fake.

This number has been calling once every few days but no message was left.

Came up as "Caine Weiner" on the caller ID.  An internet search says it's a debt collection agency.  I didn't answer.

I have been harassed by creditors looking for someone who had my number.  It has been four years and they have called me on my job.  I made the mistake and told them my name and they had the wrong number.  Tracey Porche.  Looking for someone I do not know. It does come up Caine Weiner on the caller ID.  But you can not call back.

A guy said: My name is Ricky, please return my call at 818-251-1798.  When the call came in, it came up as 877-401-7426.

Caller left message "This is Jordan, please return my call at 818 251-1798". Last I checked I don't know anyone in the LA area. Probably a debt collector.

I got the same exact message, I couldn't understand the company name they mumbled it

I don't answer calls from numbers I'm unfamiliar with, so I sent it straight to voicemail. A man left a message saying "This is Matt, please return my call at 818-251-1798."

I don't know who he was or what he wanted, but I'm certainly not returning the call.

I got "Hello, this is mariela please return my call at 8182511798"

Just got a call from this number at 8:54 pm. A legit debit collector would not call at this time of night.

Recieved a call from Marcella to please return my call at 818 251 1798.

Said: my name is Marcella please call me back at 8182511798.

Left message saying they were a debit collector.  However, the call came in at 8:20 pm.  Which seems a little late to be legit.

Federal law allows debt collectors to call from 8 am to 9 pm your time.

You need to send them a certified, return receipt debt validation (by law they have to go back to the original creditor to prove you owe the debt), cease and desist calling, or "not me" letter (this will be the best money that you have ever invested).  Also send it first class mail in case no one will sign for it.  Make a notation of that fact at the bottom of the letter.  You also need to report them to the proper agencies to which I have provided links to.  Then you need to go out and get a consumer lawyer to sue them on a contingency basis (no money out of your pocket) and let them pay you for the harassment.  If everyone did these three things, these crooks would be bankrupt and we would all be the richer for it.  Use these web sites to find an attorney in your state that will probably take the case on a contingency basis (no money out of your pocket up front):  http://www.consumeradvocates.org/

It is incumbent upon them under the law to prove that the debt exists and that you owe it, and that they have the legal right to collect it.  You are not obligated under the law to prove that you don’t owe or that it is paid.

Federal law (FDCPA) requires them to send you a letter (US MAIL ONLY) postmarked within 5 days of their first contact that contains their name, physical address, the creditor’s name, and the amount of the alleged debt.  It also must contains “mini-Miranda” telling you that it is an attempt to collect a debt and that all information will be used for those purposes.  The one other important thing that this letter must also have in it is that you have a right to dispute the debt within 30 days of receipt of the letter and if you do so, all collection activity must be stopped until the debt is verified.
