They contacted me and I thought they were a scam at first but everything checked out in the end. Mrs. Anderson was so sweet and walked me through the whole process of handling my case. I was very happy at the outcome. However that Mr. Johnson was a jerk. I wouldn't deal with him again if I had to!! All in all I'm happy they called so I could get help

    Oh?

You were so happy with them, that you decided to search for their phone number, to comment on a site dedicated to phone number questions and scams?

You were so happy that you did not use the same company name as did the person who started this thread.

Everybody was so sweet that you forgot that the FDCPA mandates debt holders send a WRITTEN notification of debt, rather than just use the phone.

You are so happy that you had to SHOUT YOUR NEWS.

Um ... do shillers get paid much?

Got a threatening message on my new business cell phone for someone else despite my obvious business voice mail recording. I called back to explain that I was not the person they were looking for, nor did I know her (so that that they could stop wasting time calling my number). Was informed by "Ms. Anderson" that my story was "fishy" and that this was a "felony investigation" then promptly hung up on. Sounds like a legal firm right? Nope, don't think so. I called it (her?) back with the following msg : "I would like to remind you that making False or Misleading Representations is a violation of the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act and I will be very happy to pursue legal and financial actions against you personally and with your firm."

Look up your state laws, you may be able to collect damages from this disgusting leach on society.

Amazing that you went on all the complaint sites and wrote the exact same thing.  And you want us to believe you are just happy with these callers. And took your time to write all these comments to praise them. Come on legal services or who ever you are you think we are that stupid.  You are running a scam

    What outcome?
If you sent them money, it is gone.

The "validation notice" letter is supposed to be sent by the collector BEFORE you send them money!
So, if you sent money and did not get such a letter before you sent it, the money you sent may not even be applied to your debt.
If you sent money via Green Dot or Western Union or similar means, it has definitely gone to a scammer.

How does that make you happy, if the outcome is loss of your funds?

The Fair Debt Collection Practices Act (FDCPA) includes statements such as this:

    * Every collector must send you a written “validation notice” telling you how much money you owe within five days after they first contact you. This notice also must include the name of the creditor to whom you owe the money, and how to proceed if you don’t think you owe the money.   ["Written" means snailmailed ... not emailed or texted]

    Lurkers:

IF you wish to communicate with the supposed collector / creditor, visit  the following page, for example "Action Letters" to snailmail:
    http://www.consumerfinance.gov/blog/debtcollection/

If you KNOW you owe no money, or believe the call was from a fake debt collector, please take the time to read this:

They called a relative of mine saying they had a warrant for an old payday loan. ( I have inquired on payday loans on the past but have NEVER actually done one) So I call them up and the guy is nice at first then I tell him I need the debt validated and he gets angry with me. I tell him to grow and I hang up the phone. He proceeds to call the relative again and tells them that I have to go to the police station right away that they have a warrant out on me for RAPE?? LOL It was at that moment I knew that these people were full of it and they freaked my mother out. I called the man back and he was like "how do you like them apples" (referring to the line of BS he fed my mother) I told him that I was reporting him to my attorney generals office which I did. These people are a scam. NO MATTER WHAT THEY TELL YOU DON'T GIVE THEM MONEY EVEN IF THEY HAVE YOUR INFORMATION. ASK FOR VALID INFORMATION ON THE DEBT VIA US POSTAL MAIL. NOT EMAIL OR FAX.

    Annoyed
Ms. Anderson in Legal Services says that I haven't responded to any written notifications and they are going to file charges against me. Must be the end of the month cuz that about when I get these calls......EVERY MONTH. It's the same threat every month from a different phone number for the last two years. Funny though because I haven't gotten a single written notice that I assume they are claiming to have sent to me and I've live at the same address for the last five years. Go ahead and keep this up. I can keep reporting your numbers and one of these times you will be caught.

Yes they called me to saying everything you guys mentioned. They say they are called legal services. In the state Texas a law firm must have an atty name attached to it. Per a bankruptcy atty in Houston. They can be sued for this. They are not a firm.

    Frustrated
This person called from 832-479-5657 and asked for somebody named Susan James@@@, This is Not us.  I have gotten this phone call before asking for this person  however this time when I told her that this was not the right number for this person she said, very rudely" I left 3 messages and you are just now letting me know". I told her that I HAD  CALLED  back these calls looking for this person before, many times and told them that this number did not belong to the name they were looking for and quit calling our landline number, but  they never take the connection out, obviously.  We have been here 15 years and don't know anybody by that name. She hung up. Really!! Why should I have to spend my time and energy calling them back every time they call this number anyway...She really pissed me off. Maybe there is a way to block these calls forever. They call and then they are rude to me and I am not the wanted person. There is something WRONG with that picture. That lady actually needs to do some real research to find the person who she is really looking for. I am tired of calls like this.I work from home and interruped by @@@@ like this often...TIRED.....
