- Chad| 3 repliesCalled my work and said they were coming tomorrow between 2 and 5 to serve me papers. I called hem back and told me I had a debt with Castle Pay Day and was being sued. Said they would help me file a fraud charge since I said it wasn't mine. Could give me very little specifics at all and couldn't provide me with the original documents, they just had the legal proceedings. ??? Don't think so nuts hung up in them. No court is going to call and tell you when they are serving you with papers.

- Carolyn replies to ChadSome electronic message is leaving me a vmail saying they are Levy Brown and Keller and to return their call. No clue who they are but this is disturbing to read. You are right though, no one is going to tell you that they are just showing up at your work. Probably fraud

Extortion Scam Related to Delinquent Payday Loans
Washington, D.C.
December 07, 2010 FBI National Press Office
(202) 324-3691
The Internet Crime Complaint Center has received many complaints from victims of payday loan telephone collection scams. Callers claim the victim is delinquent in a payday loan and must repay the loan to avoid legal consequences. The callers purport to be representatives of the FBI, Federal Legislative Department, various law firms, or other legitimate-sounding agencies. They claim to be collecting debts for companies such as United Cash Advance, U.S. Cash Advance, U.S. Cash Net, and other Internet check-cashing services.
According to complaints received from the public, the callers have accurate data about victims, including Social Security numbers, dates of birth, addresses, employer information, bank account numbers, and the names and telephone numbers of relatives and friends. How the fraudsters obtained the personal information varies, but in some cases victims have reported they completed online applications for other loans or credit cards before the calls started.
The fraudsters relentlessly call the victim’s home, cell phone, and place of employment. They refuse to provide any details about the alleged payday loans and become abusive when questioned. The callers have threatened victims with legal actions, arrests, and, in some cases, physical violence if they do not pay. In many cases, the callers harass victims’ relatives, friends, and employers. - Lisa replies to Chad| 1 replyDid they ever take you to court

To answer your question in one word - NO! - NatashaReceived a call from an Olivia Truman tries to do a scare tactic.Once I stated they sent me nothing by USPS regarding who and what I owe she became very angry began raising her voice then called me deadbeat. LOL! I then stated that they sent me a bogus email with no company letterhead address or anything stating their a legit law firm. This infuriated her more then she goes on to say they have not sent an email then when I asked for her email address so I can send her a copy of the [***] email she began to curse. So who's the real scum bag here.

Fraudulent or Zombie Debt Collectors—Things to Know
If you have received a call stating:
1. You have defrauded a financial institution
2. You owe an unpaid payday loan
3. You have a warrant due to an unpaid loan
5. You will receive a court summons
6. Authorities are coming to arrest you
7. Anything similar to above,
a. Do not give them any information or verify any information for them
b. Tell them you know they are a scam operating illegally and that you are filing a complaint with the appropriate authorities
* File a complaint with the FBI on their Internet Crime webpage http://www.ic3.gov/default.aspx
* File a complaint with the Attorney General for the state you live in
The more information and complaints there are, the better the chance of getting these criminals to stop (or at least reduce the frequency). [abstracted from another site]
