Hey, thanks you guys. I was in the middle of this transaction and I did a good search on the phone number.  The guy did some things that were out of the ordinary.  On the ebay pages he sent ALWAYS check the .com addresses.  Ebay sends from ebay.

This person(s) is committing internet fraud. They are running automobile scams and in fact scammed a family member the first week of July 2008. Another number they are using is:  214-481-4193

This person is located in California. They are listing in Craigs List and selling fictitious cars to unsuspecting consumers. They try and have you send money via Money Gram and even send you a receipt/invoice from EBay. Yes, you heard that right, they send an invoice from Ebay. They convince people that Ebay will handle the transaction for Craigs List and con folks into believing this. They say the car will be delivered and that Money Gram will hold the money in escrow to make sure you are satisfied, and then go on to say that the money is refundable within a certain amount of days.

They use GMail addresses and have gone under such names as:

    Robert Larson - robertlarson1122@gmail.com
    Chad Maxwell - lt.chadmaxwell@gmail.com

    The IP addresses are:

I was wondering if anyone would be willing to tell me how you were told to pay. I am wondering if he is using the same method on everyone.

Mr. "Scott Kramer" pretends to be a US Army Major currently living in the UK. He is still selling his 2005 Audi A6 Quattro for 4900$. He said the US Army will transfer the car for free. The audi was advertised at craigslist in the Boston area. I was just about to purchase this car because people told me that the ebay system is safe. The original ebay system might be safe but these people are using a faked system. Thanks to this chatroom I will not go to transfer the money, which I was planning to do in 30 min.
I was worried about a few little things that prompted me to do a more thorough search:
    1.) The extraordinary cheap price
2.) The craigslist listing was withdrawn after 1 day
3.) These folks are using a gmail system and "krammer" in the name instead of "kramer"
4.) I always got an email response when it was in the middle of the night in the UK, but daytime in the US
5.) The car appears extremely nicely polished in the photobucket. The pictures were taken rather in the US than in the UK (which is weird: Who takes pics of a car he wants to sell in the US and then ship it overseas), and the license plate was carefully wiped out.
5.) Finally, the appearance of the faked ebay site and the fact that a personal address was used for a middleman raised the red flag. A quick google serach using "Mr. Kramer´s" address in the UK (Oxfordshire, OX1 3AS), which was mentioned in the faked ebay invoice directed me to this site.

I would like to do something to help bringing these people into jail, but I think it will be useless to talk to the local police. If I can be of any help, please tell me in this chatroom.

I'm so glad we researched this.  My husband and I thought it was too good to be true.  My husband emailed this scoundrel, aka "SGT. DENNIS MILLER" at RAF Lakenheath, Air Force Base in the U.K. Claimed there would be no shipping costs cause he would have it sent on one of the cargo planes right to our address.  My husband, being quite the business man, kept asking all the right questions and each time something wouldn't make sense.  So I started looking into this Air Force Base, couldn't find any listing for this Sgt. Miller.  I looked up the address of the person who was to be the "agent" for ebay motors and came up empty handed.  The car was a 2005 Mercedes E class. Price was something like $4850.  I finally punched in the number and THANK YOU!  Have to admit, it was a pretty good scam he or they thought up...but if anyone ever comes across a "too good to be true" offer, keep asking questions.  You will find, like I said, that things don't add up.  Thanks to all of you, as well and I feel horrible for those of  you who were victims of this and can get your money back and or some kind of justification for all this.  I am going to report this locally and to the proper authorities, FBI/CIA, and anyone else who will listen.  I don't know if anyone has reported him on Craig's list yet, but I'm going to heading there next. My husband turned him into Ebay.  If no one minds, I'm going to try to push this through to the media and refer to this forum.  Those Damn Scammers!

I was scammed the end of July by a Sgt. James Campbell.  Contact your local law enforcement. Also, the Sheriff's Dept told me to go to IC3.com.  It's an internet complaint site and give a DETAILED report of what happened to you and as much detailed information as you give them.  You can go back and add to it at anytime.  The information that  you put in gets sent out to all Local, State & Federal Law Enforcement.

I contacted the Department of Defense because it concerned me that these people are impersonating Military or Law Enforcement.  The Dept. of Defense cannot do anything but gave my information to the FBI.

I used Reverse Email Detective to find IP addresses.  I've come up with about 32 dif't names used & 26 dif't cars so far.  The IP addresses have all been addresses for web servers like "Google headquarters" in Calif. or Yahoo, MSN etc.  The Sheriff's deputy from my area has contacted google...but it is google's policy to contact the people in question first so I sent them a letter telling of my disappointment in Google's policy and protecting the criminal.  I'm assuming yahoo & msn are the same??? Haven't checked.

When I talked to a guy at MoneyGram when I tried to get the money stopped (which I couldn't) he couldn't give me alot of information but said if this became a legal matter and more information was needed then they could give out more information.  Maybe a camera would have caught something.

I'm posting this because I really want to try and stop these people. They're taking advantage of too many people.

Gather your thoughts and write them down step by step what happened, any correspondence you got and take it to your local law enforcement.  And go to the IC3 site and type in your detailed report.
