I just received a call from "858-524-4822"!  Of course I didn't answer, and they left no Voice Mail...I immediately came here, to check the comments, then dialed *60, on my Landline, to add, yet another Scammer' s Phone number to my "Call Screening" List!  I've added 20 New numbers, to the List, just in the last 3 days!  :o/

Yes, I just got a call from that number on my cell.  Apparently I'm being awarded a cruise for two for taking their survey. No indication of who the company is.

Looks like it may be part of the free cruise network scam see https://800notes.com/Phone.aspx/1-561-829-2349

    Tred,

That's amazing.  How do you do that?

All I've been able to find about this number is that it may be a cell phone number, and the switch with which it may be associated is (perhaps) north of San Diego.  Of course, the calling party could be anywhere.  (There was another possibility -- the callerID is in the correct format for a 10-digit Indian cell phone number, with the country code falling off the left side of the display.  You might need 12 digits to correctly display one of those, and few North American CallerID displays can show all 12 digits.)

Also, I only see one post above that might connect it to a travel scam, but it doesn't seem very specific.  Almost all reports are of just a ring and no one there to answer.  (If you use the auto redial feature, and the number that called you is 12 digits long, but your display only shows 10, will your phone dial an International number?)

Could there be a different scam attached to these calls or just a prank caller?

    Hey Mouse,

I would describe it as under learning: rote memory, application, association, and correlation. I also wonder about google search results and locations. Say, that I'm in Florida and you're in California search results may vary. I had found other references under different websites a reference to "free cruises." Their use of networks as linked in adds to confusion and deception.

Called either my landline or cellphone (calls automatically forwarded) 9 times in one evening. I am traveling overseas at the moment and not picking up any numbers I don't recognize, plus I have the ringer turned off, so I know about these calls only because they are displayed as "missed calls" when I turn the phone on. (To avoid roaming charges, I use it only for wi-fi.)

Kept receiving calls from this number...finally answered to get a name and file a complaint
Is an automated survey fronting for refinancing, debt relief, etc.
Dangles two free cruise tickets for taking the survey.  Each question is If x would you like to receive information from...
To get the cruise tickets you "request" a call from a travel coordinator.

Couldn't get a name because everything is automated unless you "request" a call back.

Same here. I have no idea which company they are affiliated with. I hung up after it asked me to take a survey to receive the free trip.

There now appears to be enough information to report this number to the FCC.  It may be too early to assert these grounds yet, but this observer suggests that you might want to mention the following:

    "47 CFR §64.1200   Delivery restrictions.
"(a) No person or entity may:
    ...
"(6) Disconnect an unanswered telemarketing call prior to at least 15 seconds or four (4) rings.
"(7) Abandon more than three percent of all telemarketing calls that are answered live by a person, as measured over a 30-day period for a single calling campaign. If a single calling campaign exceeds a 30-day period, the abandonment rate shall be calculated separately for each successive 30-day period or portion thereof that such calling campaign continues. A call is 'abandoned' if it is not connected to a live sales representative within two (2) seconds of the called person's completed greeting."

These prohibitions are cited in the latest FCC rules.  See:
    http://www.ecfr.gov/cgi-bin/text-idx?SID=79e4 ... 2.17.1&rgn=div8

You should know that relying upon the Internet for legal advice is foolhardy.  You should contact your own lawyer for advice on how to proceed in any particular legal and factual situation, but you may want to show him or her this section of the CFR concerning robocalling if you think it will give him a "jump start."  Otherwise, use this information at your own risk.
