Last week found a message on my answering machine with a female voice saying they have "important info regarding my personal information." I called back and a man with an Indian sound accent said Hello. He mentioned the name of the company which had something to do with loans. I promptly asked to remove me from their list and he said he would. Will see. If they are calling from overseas I guess the rules of the do not call list do not apply to them, Hah???
Same as above - Today, found a message on my answering machine with a female voice saying they have "important info regarding my personal information." Requested a call back.
For several weeks have been receiving calls atleast one time per day, sometimes as late as 8:45 p.m. saying that 'This is Janet, It is very important that someone for this number call regarding your personal information. If you want to speak to an agent now press any number on your phone to be connected to an agent.' Then the "Janet" tells what hours she is available Mon - Sat. Then she gives the phone number twice 866-218-3883. The recording then repeats in entirity. It is very long and extremely annoying. Playback takes forever to finally erase from voice mail. I have not called the number because I can tell it is a sales type call and I will not confirm that my phone number is an active one.
I've had the exact same message left on my machine at least once a day for the last week. I tried calling back several times, and was greeted with another message telling me to hold for a very important call, but holding as long as 15 minutes resulted in no answer. I finally got through, and was promptly hung up on. They then called back immediately, and an Indian woman told me in a nasty tone that I owed Target almost $800. I had a fraudulent charge removed from my credit rating two years ago for Target, in the amount of about $10. I asked to speak to a supervisor and was told that no supervisor was available. Calling back hasn't resulted in any human contact. Another number they use is 866-308-3287.
I received a phone call from an Indian sounding gentlemen saying he had a very personal matter to discuss w/me. He was from OCWEN, his phone # is 866-218-3883. My answering machine recorded phone calls at 2:31, 3:13, 3:40, 5:17. My caller id records the # as 407-441-7826.
Looke this up today 7/2/07. I was on vacation last week, message on my desk from this number and when I answered the phone this morning they asked fro me told them I am not allowed personal calls at this number and proceeded to look it up. Here's what I found. I am going to print this out and use as a reference for when they call me again. I will than demand proof at that ppoint of whatever it is they are talking about. Though I would like to know more about the class action suit as stated in big bill on may 5th of this year. I can be e-mailed with any further information and updates if available at the following address: kastlekook@yahoo.com Thank you, Ann Marie
The messages I receive are all the same as below. Always Janet telling me to return this call. I called and got someone from Auckland. He told me they answer for several companies. Told him to take me off his call list.
I have had at least 4 calls from this number. What can I do if they do not take me off their call list?
I was contacted yesterday by Ocwen. The number that showed up on my caller ID was from Orlando, FL. I re-dialed that number and it claims that number is not in service. The same number called me today and it was a recording to tell me to stay on the line. A minute or so later a man from India started asking me questions. He had my previous name prior to marriage and told me I owed them 1500.00 from 18 years ago. I told him I never had a credit card back in 1989 ( I was in high school) he said it was a loan. Well obviously, I never had one of those either I told him. He kept asking me to verify my SS#, which I would not. He didn't even have my married name, my actual address. He did have my birthdate correct, which I told him he can get from in the internet. This is a SCAM! He told me if I would give him my email address that he would send me over this bill. Told him no to that too. I told him if I owed money on a credit card or loan it would have showed up on my credit report for years, which it didn't. I know I had never had either of these things at the age of 18! I would be VERY weary about accepting these calls. I then told him that I wasn't going to give him any information on me, he then said... Are you refusing to pay this bill? Couldn't believe it. I then did a google search for Ocwen and all it talks about is fraud and scams!
Gotten 4 calls over the last 5 days. Always as described above. Called the number got an Indian woman who sounded like she was making dinner and changing a baby while she talked on the phone. Wanted someone my name but a different middle initial.
Wanted to know how long I'd had my number. Told them to stop harrassing me and she hung up. Called back got an Indian male same question.
Got a call at my JOB, from Indian voice man called Nikhil from a company called Ocwen supposedly for a personal matter. I now know all the information listed on this page and I am going to call him back and use it as my referenece to not call me again. Their number is 1-866-3885 or 3883. I told him to no longer call my job over an account that was 10 years old and settled 7 years prior and not for the amount they were claiming it was for! This is BOGUS and i didn't verify my address and I did not verify my last SS# and told him if he didn't tell me what is was then I couldn't help him. He asked to call me back and did and then he told me all the information about a debt which I don't think is legal since he didn't verify who the heck I was! I told them not too call me again unless he wanted another lawsuit for money claims which invalid. BE AWARE!
Yes, we get a call about once a week from Janet and we hang up. It is a scam and why has not the Attorney General done something about this. I you punch a number like she says, you may be talking to India and a large bill may show up on your phone bill
someone keeps calling from this number saying that i owe them money from a utility bill from over 10 years ago. the problem is that i never lived in the place they said for the dates given. i contacted my states attorney general and after investigating they found that the company the person claimed to be from (Ocwen) does not even handle this type of thing. this is probably a scam. they have asked for my ssn to get this resolved. i obviously did not give it to them.
i have received four call's all of them being a male with an indian or asian voice asking for my son saying it a personnal business matter and when ask what it it is about they just say it is a personnal matter and ask to vaerife phone here my son hasn't lived her and dons't live and i ask them to remove me from there calling list and i would for them to be found and a law suit put on them for the harrasment.
I too received a call from "Janice" as all the prior posts indicate. The call came in right over the Christmas holiday break with company in the house. It came into my caller ID from Orlando Florida (1-407-249-1572). I hit the redial button and was told that this is a number that is disconnected or no longer in service. Because of this I was suspicious before I even called "Janice" back at 866-218-3883. Like previous posts, I received someone who did not identify themselves with a company, but rather with a simple "hello" and I could hear a baby crying in the background. The accent was thick and he confirmed later that he (Navin) was located in India; who knows if this is true or not. I asked for Janice but was told that Janice is their automated caller and not a real person. Unfortunate for me I did confirm my phone number and name (wish I had not done this) but when he asked repeatedly for my social security number (even the last 4 digits) and my address I said absolutely not. When I asked repeatedly what the nature of the call was I was told that it was a very important personal business call but that they would have to call me back to give me the information. I said, no, and asked that they identify the nature of the call now and not later. He said they would be calling me back once we hung up. I indicated to him that I won't pick up any further calls and asked that they simply tell me the nature of the call (obviously he did not have a capacity to transfer me, gee I wonder why).
All I received from this caller was mention of the company "OCWEN" (apparently a multinational loan group). I will look up the information on OCWEN scams from the other posters. I will say that as I was ending the call I was told that they would keep calling me until I adequately responded to their business inquiry -- but of course I don't know what this business inquiry is to this point. Anyway I think I'm in line to get blitzed each day with calls from them. Maybe I should make a preemptive strike and block the number. Of course if they are smart enough to use disconnected phone lines from Orlando Florida they could probably get around this too. Good luck to us all
Got the same call. Twice in one day. No one was home, so they left a message. They just asked that "someone at this number" please call them back. I called (on my phone that has my number blocked) and got a voicemail for Mr. Rain (Reyn?) from Ocwen. I won't be calling again.
Good luck to all. Be wary of scams and scam artists out to take your hard-earned cash.
Today is Jan 02, 2008. Same as above. Set cell phone ringer to "silent" for 407-441-7826, 866-308-3287, and 866-218-3883. Have had about seven calls about a credit card I never had and as they relate it to be about 14 years ago. Uncooperative. Statute of limitations in this state [no matter who owns the debt] is 6 years. Cease and desist order from me has had no effect. Indian sounding male and female.
