I hope you get this.  I also got the fax but did not respond because I realized it was a con.  But, the unfortunate thing is that since they send these out in a mass faxing, some poor souls will actually send in their money.  These folks should be prosecuted.

    Miss Frustrated:

Interesting sales pitch. When sales people are or become persistent, I just ask for their name, company name and address. Then I let them talk as long as they like. When I believe they are about finished, I just tell them no for the last time and remind them that they will be receiving a bill for my time and that I invoice at $210 per hour and it looks like we've been on the phone for about (??). Trust me, that gets their attention. :-) Don't expect to get paid and more than likely you may not receive any more calls from them either. I'd say it's a worthwhile investment. This lets them know that YOUR TIME is valuable too. Just don't forget to send them a professionally written and detailed invoice and follow it up with periodic reminders. BE CAREFUL, if you wish to conceal your identity, but keep in mind that IF you do receive a check you'll still want to cash it. It's worth the investment and at times fun.

Just got an e-mail from this Bozo.  Same request.
Got previous similar ones from the "Princeton Who's Who."
Wish there were some effective way to nail these clowns.
Given the situation, I just ignore them.

I must say that just because a few people with nothing better to do than sit around and refer to something as a scam without truly understanding the Who's Who concept is very indicative of why the country is in the mess it's in. Let me educate....The Who's Who concept has been around for over 100 years. The intention of any Who's Who publication is to give high level executives and professionals the ability to network and do business with each other. Think of it as a directory of prominent people. And just for everyone's information, they do not accept everyone into the publication. If that was the case, they wouldn't send out e-mails or faxes. They would be able to accomplish that just by cold calling you from the local yellow pages.

I replied.  The same as you are all telling. But he did tell me that if I signed up that day I would received good luck in the future.  How could I refuse?  So, I signed up 6 years ago and any day now good luck will come my way.  He said for me to be patient and so I will.  It should happen any day now. I am just waiting for the day the guard to tell me I am free!

The email to me said they needed a "biography" for "Princeton Who's Who."  I got sucked in by the line that said there would be no charge.  I foolishly filled out a few questions - my email (they already had it anyway) name, phone, etc.  They then called me.
"Princeton" Who's Who had changed to "Stanford Who's Who" !!  (They obviously have several names they go by.)  I listened to a lengthy pitch disguised as getting info for my entry into the book.  It actually started sounding legit.  Then the interviewer (read: saleslady) explained the differences between the "gold account" and the "platinum account."  There really wasn't much difference except "995" versus "595 and 199 deferred."  Can you imagine?  Some people pay almost 1000 bucks to get into a book!  No one will look at this book and everyone you tell that you're in the book will figure out pretty quickly what it is...  I politely declined.

You can get as creative as you want when you fax back your "information". I always like to draw a very large black border around the fax with a fat marking pen. I want to know that I used more of their ink than they did mine.

Just remember now, what is your secret fantasy character, and what kind of info would they supply?

Who's Who has indeed been around for a long time, but not this one! It's a cheap scam. Period.

I have given them the information they deserve, since it appears they at least have my fax number and have circumvented my phone company's junk fax filter. Here is my info...just for fun, let's see how creative we can be!

Name: Princess Amidala, Job Title: Active Royalty
Company Name:.... etc. (you get the picture)

Don't forget to use your fat black marker to create a beautiful solid border before faxing it back!

I had so much fun with the form this morning. I hope they send me another!
