- Mal replies to PaulMmy mom just got a call like that, they told her they were calling about a check that she'd written, and she asked when the check was written, and they told her they couldn't tell her until she told them her social security number. she then asked what company it was, and she declined to give them her number, and hung up. this is so ridiculous, if anyone calls u, asking for info on ANYTHING, they are fraudulent people, do NOT give any info whatsoever! stupid lying people! don't get suckered in!
- JG replies to FredI have also been getting calls from Joseph on my cell phone for about 4 weeks. I have blocked the incoming call number on my cell, but the next day get a call from Joseph from a different number. What about changing my cell phone number?
- b.w. replies to LeAnn PowersI got the same message. I asked them to verify the debt ( i knew it wasnt a check but knew it was a loan from money mutual) They emailed me a letter and when i checked their address on maps.google.com it is an empty lot. I am calling my lawyer tomorrow morning about putting it on my chapter 13 so i dont have to deal with this anymore. They want me to pay three x the amount i owed to m. mutual. WHen i told ffg and associates this he didn't like that at all! he said "oh no *(*** then you'll have to deal with a payment plan for five years and that'd be a shame for you" well yeah cuz it's an unsecure debt and they wont get half what i owe them. *according to my attorney** so yeah theyre a rip off company. i'm not paying them jack crap! sorry but i'll pay who i owe not this rip off company...
- TooMuchYou can add these numbers for Joseph as well.... 443-438-1835 and 877-683-5490. The same as most of the posts here. Message regarding a check and needing to verify some information. I don't even write checks lol.
- FFG EMPLOYEE| 6 repliesI work at FFG, I make hundreds, and well the dialer makes hundreds, of these calls every day. There are four different departments (types of debt) with five or six locations. The dialer uses hundreds of numbers and we have no idea which 'real' number we use.
I actually found out about this site when a debtor I was collecting on mentioned it. SO HERE IS the skinny:
1) We have your whole SSN# along with what is most likely an old address and the date you made your last payment.
2) We ask for the last four and usually the zip code we have on file to verify who we are talking with.
3) We do not want to talk to you if it’s not your debt; FFG processes HUGE amounts i.e. over half a billion in debt yearly. We get thousands of our initial letters back.
a. If the last four match and we can verify some part of the address then we will give you a “mini Miranda”. The whole this is an attempt to collect a debt, etc.
b. In most cases, we send the initial letter from the law firm who has been retained to generate the letter after we get a correct address.
i. This is when your 30 days to PROVE the debt is not yours starts
ii. The letter will also have the current mailing address
c. If the number we have is incorrect and we believe you (i.e. you do not hang up and give us enough time to change the screen, then that is the last call you will get.
d. We need to take as many calls as possible so dead time kills me. If some one just yells and then hangs up, I don’t take time to fix the system. I just check no answer/left message and go on the next call.
e. WE WILL CALL YOU ALMOST EVERY SINGLE DAY until we can verify the numbers, so if its the wrong number LET US KNOW, we are going off the file that the lender/payday loan/retail card has on file
f. Each of us has a queue of about 500,000 in debt, the quicker we can get to the next debtor the more we will make. (The best people make 70k plus, and they do not yell a lot, it is a transaction, you got a TV/LOAN/Who knows what from someone, you did not pay we are chasing that money.
4) FFG will usually accept 6-month payments on larger accounts 10k+ and 3-5 month payments on smaller accounts.
FFG makes its money by identifying the debtors and then quickly moving on to collection. FFG owns the debt in many cases and the attorney office that sends the letter will farm out any of the scary legal actions that you are all screaming about.
The debt comes in pools; after the amount collected hits a certain level; we start hearing about “new” debt. At this time all the debt will be sold to other agency’s that are willing to pursue legal options that would just slow us down.
As to the licenses first of all BBB…it is a joke... that is essentially a shake down scam for businesses. I am on the phones, not mgmt, but they do show us a list of licenses and bonds FFG has. In the time, I have been there (two +years) some suits from some agency have walked thru twice. Not exactly sure, who they were but people freaked, and we were all read the riot act on what we could and could not say.
Bottom line if you owe the debt it will be collected. If you cannot, pay the way out is to file a BK. There are groups of investors who buy the debt after FFG because of the skip tracing that most of us do.
It is a cool place to work… great phones, we have a live DJ BLASTING the tunes and you cannot hear a thing. Occasionally you come across a story where you wish the debtor would just scrape up the cash and go BK. At times, I have also collected on debt that was 9 years old. SCAM… well 9 years ago, you got something so guess what…. You were caught on that one.- Caller: 866-443-6985 --- FFG

- ffg EMPLOYEE replies to JohnWe use a dialer so there are about 200 out going lines. The 800 will get you to the extension. Checks are another department but they usually are referring to a payday loan where you gave them a post dated check that bounced and now its time to pay up.
- FFG Employee replies to BonnieYou can pay the debt you owe, in most cases we will work with you on short term payments. If your address has changed from the dated of the debt, we will resend the initial letter which gives you 30 days to dispute the amount.
- BS Detector| 3 repliesJunior, it's not up to the consumer to prove there is nothing owing, it's up to YOU to prove that there is.
You're not going to sue anybody.

Fixing things, one collector at a time - Joshua W.| 10 repliesOn Oct. 12, I attempted to take out a $200 payday loan from Check-N-Go. I had use them before with no issues and tried to use them again. Once my status for approval of the loan was pending, I just waited for the usual phone call I got from them telling me to go back online and electronically sign to the terms fo the loan. Next day, I got a call from a place called CMG Group trying to tell me that they could do the loan for me of $200 and it would be $260 with interest and it needed to be paid back in 2 weeks. I knew I couldn't do this, as Check-N-Go gave me a month to pay back a loan so I said NO. End of call.
A few hours later I got a call from Check-N-Go saying I was approved too and that all they needed was a voided check to move forward. I told them I didn't even have a checkbook and when they said that it was their "new policy" and there wasn't anything they could do, I said NO. End of call.
According to my bank account, on Oct 14, $200 dollars was deposited WITHOUT MY CONSENT or knowledge at all by CMG Group LLC. NOWHERE did I electronically sign or give authorization to have this done. I also DID NOT consent to my personal account information being given out to ANYONE other than Check-N-Go. Anyway, 2 weeks later, on my next payday, $60 was withdrawn by CMG Group LLC so I called them asking what was going on. I spoke to a Kim, who was "managing the account". Once I got the skinny, I told her that I NEVER approved of this and asked why it happened. After not getting a solid answer for anything I was asking, I told her that I would give her back the $140 for the principle loan , as they had already withdrawn $60 all by themselves. She asked that I send over a bank statement showing that I hadn't used the funds, that I had money in my account to pay it back. After I faxed that over, I never heard back from them again. 2 weeks later, $60 was withdrawn again.
So, I went online and began reading these posts about CMG Group, FFG, RoVo & Associates, and other scammers that dick people out of money by withdrawing excessive amounts past the loan amount AND interest at their own discretion. Not wanting this to be done to be, and after reading what others had done, I closed out my account.
Last Thursday, Dec 9th, I got a call from Matthew Glunt from some legal place (couldn't understand him) stating he was calling on behalf of CMG Group and trying to collect a debt of $458 due to an unpaid payday loan. I argued with this guy for at least 20 minutes. He then began to deal with me, saying that he would drop the NSF fees and what I owed down to $308. I told him I wouldn't pay it and would seek legal counsel. When I asked him to prove to me where I agreed to receive the loan in the first place, he said they sent me an e-mail, saying that "if I didn't respond, this would become a legal and binding contract". I dug though over 13,000 emails in my inbox AND spam and found NOTHING from CMG Group.. not even in the body of the messages. He said he would send me the letter from the legal office saying they would pursue the debt. When I told him to both e-mail and send me a copy via USPS, he couldn't verify my apartment number to where I live. I find it ironic that they had all this information about me, even if they did get it from Check-N-Go somehow, but never obtained my apartment number (which, I'm sure, is in Check-N-Go's system)
Now I sit with these comstant phone calls on my call log from 2 numbers. 469-656-3485 and 866-945-8627. The 469 number has the automated "Joseph" guy calling about "a check I wrote." Funny. I've NEVER written a check in my life. I have received my letter from RoVo and am debating what to do with it. I have received one call at my place of work, which irritates me to no end, by a "Miss Hogan" from RoVo & Associates, trying to resolve the debt of $458 before they "move forward with verification of my SSN in the state of Texas." When I told her that I spoke to someone previously and I would go to court to resolve it, she proceeded to end the covnersation with "Have a great day." I added that I would be responding to the letter that her firm had sent me to dispute the account. She said "Ok." and hung up. How professional of a legal firm to simply hang up.
As of now, my decision is not to pay them a dime. I had, at one point, told Matthew Glunt that I would give them the $80 for the remainder of the principle of the loan that they deposited without my approval. That just wasn't enough.
I am doing more research on these companies. I'm looking to see if CMG is licensed to loan in the state of Texas. If they are not, the entire transaction was both illegal and fraudulent. I'm doing more research on RoVo & Associates to see exactly who they represent. And so on...
If ANYONE out there has any advice or suggestions, I'd be more than happy to hear them.
Thanks,

- BS DetectorMy advice to you is to first close your bank account, then open a new one, and never ever allow anyone to access it electronically again. Second, Learn how to budget your money so you won't need payday loans. Third, and last, don't worry about these clowns. They can't do anything except harass you on the phone. Nothing but scare tactics.
- fyi replies to FFG EMPLOYEEWhat a [***]!
- fyi replies to Joshua W.Do what i have done for the past year or 2 and tell them to [***]. They are a slimball collection agency not a "LAW FIRM " lilke they claim. If you really want to put your mind at ease just call the Henderson NV courts and ask them about FFG you will get a good laugh. I have posted it on here or you can google it to get it. Also Ms. Houge sounds like she should be giving bjs on crenshaw instead of bothering people on the phone.
' - fyi replies to Joshua W.702-451-7951 is the number to the courts in Henderson NV.
- FFG EMP replies to BS Detector| 2 repliesFFG almost never (three times in history so far) sues, its because we are paid commission and you cant give commission to non attorneys.
When FFG cant collect the debt is sold to other firms who then can bring suit. When we get the debt we get electronic pdf copies of the original contract, sales record etc.
It might make you feel better to get all defensive about your 'rights' but after the letter you have to show proof ie dispute that the debt is not yours.
Its fairly easy if its not you, wrong ssn, or the bank sold your debt AND took your payments. I have one like that now. Same account number, debtor has copies of payment. As soon as we get copies of her payment, we are tossing the file. Until then it goes in the pending dispute file of my que.
Try taking a look at the top of the screen, there are hundreds of firms like the ones advertising here that will bring suit on almost any collection. Supposedly that's where the firm cant loose, we either collect or makes money selling uncollected debt with a good contact, it gets sold quickly because of the skip tracing.
As to the @#$@#$ prior comment. Its a job, we work for the group that gave you money/product/services and you didn't keep your end of the agreement. Yea it sucks, yea your credit is shot and you can rail about your "rights" or you can be like the three debtors I talked with today who set up monthly payments and made the !#$@!#$ whatever you want to call me, go away.
Frankly, alot more of you ignore the call etc until the next guy shows up in court and wins a summary award. Stop by small claims some day and you will see how the process works.
If your really hurting go BANKRUPT quit paying some debt resolution company more than it would cost and trash your credit worse than it already is. (talk with your attorney about going BK, but honestly in this economy going bk makes alot of sense.)
So BS guy, yep your right I never sue anyone, I just collect in full (rarely), settle in full (often) or mark the file unable to contact (often), or mark the file debtor refused, (it goes to another voice, then sold before the statute of limitations runs out.
Me I'm taking the BK route every time over having to deal with the calls and stress of not dealing. Sooner or later I might be on a call with you. If its not your debt or not even the right number, hey no problem Im moving on. Talk with me 1-2 minutes so I can record you saying there is no 'BS Detector" at this number and your not authorized to take messages for him and its .... check the box --debtor not at this number-- and send it back to skips.
There are over 100 of us calling 9-5 mon-friday ( some Sat because the commission bonus is based on volume and its a good way to hit the next bonus). See my prior.. I don't mind spending a min or so clearing off a name so the auto dialer doesn't call 2-7 times a day. It makes me faster.
I do get some heat for 'believing' the debtor and not pressing from time to time. As I see it, if you are going to lie about who you are, your going to lie when you set up payment etc. Get you out of my que and move one. That's why talking to you helps, I can show I have never dumped debtors numbers, and every number I dump means I have talked with X and they say no Y there, or never been a Y, or don't know Y, or if a work number Y has not worked here for years.
I have out lasted many 'hot shots' who come and get all excited about things, Im not a superstar making 80k + a year, but its a great job, cool music, just sit and let the system dial, then a few calls to the people who want to work things out and go home, watch some TV while you play on the computer.
I make less when my que is clogged with numbers that don't bring me any chance to make money. Help me clear my que and I will make sure you don't get called because some deadbeat who stole money from someone has a similar name/number or simply picked your number at random on his 'Sears/Best Buy/Rent a CTR/ etc app.
Clear my que and you can call me all the names you want. I want to make 65k this year, that means I cant have worthless numbers in my que. Im the guy who is really calm when you call screaming, seen worse and in this job no one is shooting at me. (prior service...so its all good)
Best,
A FFG employee.
OH ps.. about the law firm. Some cheat and go off script, but the script says.. Im ___________ from FFG and Im calling about a letter from the firm of Rovo etc.
