It is definitely Rogers. They ask for your address "to verify that the person they are speaking with is the account holder". At least that's what Nichole at Rogers at *611 told me. She said they were calling me because I am "eligible for a phone upgrade at better prices then even new activations." I asked if I got the deal without signing a contract and she said that they are based on three year contracts, so I declined. She told me all phones were free and smartphones would be "substantially reduced". Rogers are scammers though because I bought my own phone over three years ago (original AT&T iPhone), and went no-contract with Rogers. Now, they want to give me a phone, but WITH a contract. Doesn't my three year history speak for itself? I haven't gone anywhere for three years and now they say they want me to sign a contract so I can't go anywhere. What a bunch of crap. I say Rogers owes me a phone at no cost and with no contract!

Phone number is legitimate customer service number for Rogers Wireless service. They call out from this number with current promos, loyalty rewards programs and other current offers. If you are a Rogers customer (or even if you are not), you can call them back at the displayed number and they will update your marketing preferences and/or add you to their do not call list. My former housemate was a Rogers customer so I was getting calls from this number all the time. Since I called Rogers back and spoke to a very polite service rep, they have removed my number and I haven't had any more calls in weeks.

DO NOT answer; DO NOT return teh call. Rogers spam. Daytime call, your are charged by the minute. They reach 10% only of their entire customer base with an answer or call-back, that's over $10,000,000 annual revenue for Rogers. They don't care about the special offers. They jsut made money off you for answering and dialing.

I HATE Rogers with a passion and am counting down the days until my ridiculous contract is over.  I get calls from that number every single day to my cell and my landline.  Nobody is there and Rogers doesn't seem to care, shocking.  When I spoke to a rep about my lack of coverage (in my home, my phone only works in my kitchen and is not reliable, say driving from Edmonton to Calgary), he told me to move.  Nice.  Way to take care of your customers...you would think they should be obliged to hold up their end of the contract.

It is Rogers, but they have  a funny way of constantly re-adding your name and number to their marketing.  I have asked 4 times to have my number removed and they have always agreed.  Afterwards I'll go a few months without any calls and then they stat up again.  About 6 months ago I changed my marketing preferences online and denied all marketing, whether it be telemarketing, or junk mail.  I logged on today after receiving a call from them and by some divine intervention all my marketing preferences were set back to the default (Rogers calling you 600 times a day for life).

Oh, and to the person who said it was illegal because you're on the National Do Not Call List.  You're wrong.  You have a pre-existing business relationship with Rogers (IE: an account with them), and therefore they can contact you whenever they want.  Our Do Not Call list has so many loopholes in it that it's completly useless.

Have only been seeing this for the last few weeks. When I answered one recently and, as civilly as possible, asked the marketing agent to mark me down as not interested, they started coming in twice a day! yesterday was the breaking point when i had a call within 10 minutes of a previously unanswered call. My beef on this is not that Rogers contacts me for marketing purpose, but rather, when I notify them that I'm not interested in what is being offered, they keep calling, as if that will make me suddenly change my mind. The old "wow, now that you've called 18 more times, I am now interested in adding a home phone." strategy just pisses off otherwise content customers.

I did what LayWriter wrote to do, and I also followed up with a call to rogers, as conveniently the telemarketing checkboxes were not visible on my rogers web account. It said I do not have a phone number associated with my rogers account, go figure...

The benefit of calling the Rogers agent at 1888ROGERS1, was that he additionally added my account somehow to the "never contact" internal rogers marketing list.

Was told this can take up to 30 days to take effect, which is somewhat puzzling, as I'm sure it does not take 30 days for the rogers DB and the marketers DB to sync, just one more policy so they can justify continuing to annoy me with calls I have no interest in receiving.

since posting my last message, I've received 2 calls a day, which I have not answered. Can this not be considered harassment?

Wouldn't it be great to find out the IP address of the organization is and ddos attack them... bring down their network using tricks similar to the way they run their business. At least this would help stop this abuse.

I use to get these calls until I had the incoming calls transfered to my land line and I then keep them on as long as I can yapping with them. The point I'm making is if you waste their time over and over again they will remove your name from their call list. I have found this the best way to deal with all calls from people selling anything just keep then on the line as long as you can. Once contected tell the caller there is someone at your door and you will be back in a sec and then just put the phone down (still connected) or put the mute on and continue watching your TV show. In 15 minutes check and they will have hung up. Works for me.

Go ahead and call me for your 'advertisement', but if you do not leave a message you did not call. I Can not always make it to the phone, and I hate when someone I do not know will not leave a message. Also, calling twice each time? Time to find an employee list, then we can all call to talk to them.

Currently unemployed, but I will still never work for a call center like this. I would rather live on the street, than become one of those people.

According to them, it's a free call to my Rogers cell.
First time they called. Told me my contract was ending, gave me a special discount if I renewed. I said I'd think about it, give me a month.
Next day, another person called. I said I was thinking about it, and based on you guys calling me the next day, makes me not want to have business with Rogers. Guy apologized said he'll reschedule for the next person to call me in a month.
The next day I get a call again, but I didn't bother to pick up.
