- shari| 2 repliesThis number 832 680 1401 belongs to Freedom Rent to Own and they do not know the meaning of the word do not call. If they get your number they call you and call you every 45 minutes to one hour every day. Finally had to call the FCC and report the abuse since they were calling my cellphone.....

- Slim replies to shari| 1 replyModern technology has given telespammers the tools to call you.
Lawbreaking telescammers ignore both the Do Not Call list and any request you might make.
Modern technology can also protect you, if YOU do a few simple things!
The most effective thing to do is to get a call blocking device, service or app.
Then, use it correctly.
Google "call blocker" for more information. There are available apps (some free) for smart phones, and services and devices for landlines.
If you cannot use or afford such a tool, then:
• Do not answer calls from unknown numbers ... let them go to voicemail or answering service. Telespammers usually hang up after 3 or 4 rings.
• Do NOT return calls from unknown numbers! All that does is verify your phone number! And, in some cases, those return calls may cost $20 or more to complete. If the incoming call was important, they would have left a message!
• If you have a "dumb" cell phone, assign the scammer's number to a group named "scam" (or similar). Then, assign a silent ringtone to that group. (This also works for smartphones). The spammer will usually hang up before the phone goes to voicemail.
• Another option, for cell phones: Assign a "silent ringtone" as DEFAULT. Then, assign your favorite ringtones to all known friends / family / business numbers. That way, you will hear rings ONLY from those you wish to contact! You will not hear scammers' rings, even if they change their number! (This is also called "whitelisting", and will cause you to miss calls from non-whitelisted numbers).
If you want to report potential fraudulent or scam calls, here are two pages of links to (mostly government) sites in Canada and the USA were you can report those scams, or learn more about them.

- ErtenseLegitimate call from a company called Premium Assist working thru my Healthcare insurance provider to assist Medicare Insureds in obtaining any premium assistance available for qualified applicants. Unfortunately the call came through this tool free number that apparently has been associated with scam/spam calls. The automated calling banks don't always differentiate or the scammers are spoofing their caller ID.
I verified this caller/company with my Healthcare insurance provider as legitimate. But obviously be aware of anyone calling who portends to be helping and verify them before calling them back. I always call back these numbers once I have researched them, if legit, then asked detailed and pointed questions. You have to beware of "phishing" whether online or offline.- Caller: Premium Assist

- Jaki J.E.| 1 replyDid not identify company - claimed to have important information about my "benefits." Left a voice mail telling me to call 866-236-4471. I looked that number up & it has been reported as "suspicious scam."

- Elizabeth DavisThis number came through an email supposedly from Amazon, though the email address is a gmail address :/ This is a scam. They sent me an email saying thanks for your purchase of an iPhone for $700. I called the number for customer service and different individuals answered with an eastern accent, but the first thing that alerted me was it took them a while to answer the phone. It rang too many times. I asked if this was a real company because it sounded like fraud. The guy said I could look up the number. I did and this is not a number for Amazon customer service. I also replied to the email that it was the wrong email address sent to and I would be reporting them as a scam.
- Caller: Amazon
- Call type: Scam suspicion
- Elizabeth replies to Jaki J.E.They did not identify their company either when answering the phone. They claimed to be Amazon, and when I called a second time another guy answered and asked if I were someone else. They obviously are trying to scam people because they would answer rather quickly and also identify the company they represent, AND most of all the email they sent me would not be someone’s gmail address. It should be from Amazon.
- ignoredPhone ID showed Centurion Health. (877 236 4471) Poor cut and paste audio Message left said it was Emblem Health and to call 888 378 5261. I checked this number on this site was well.
