- SCbelleI either let the answering machine get or pick up and immediately hang up on these calls. I love this site because it usually can tell you what the call is and if it's legit. I recognized this number as one I previously looked up after the caller ID showed it numerous times. Answered and a lady from India said she was calling about a problem Microsoft reported with my computer. Told her she had just called the county sheriffs department and we knew they were a scam and were monitoring them. She said well m'am I haven't done anything wrong to sell you something yet! I hung up. Don't fall for their BS, just don't answer or hang up!!
- Caller: I Tech
- bobgot a all from this number and they claimed they were Microsoft techs. Said I had thousands of error messages that they needed to help me fix. We're suggesting I look at many additional software adds to fix problems. Wanted access to my computer. Has anyone used this service or given them access?

- NickCalled this number back and some foreign scammer guy answered and assured me that my computer had an error that microsoft reported to them. Told them I thought that was amazing that microsoft has the ability to send information about my linux based system and that clearly the system is working flawlessly.

- Drew2These creeps just won't quit. They just called my home. The gentleman said he'd gotten a report that my wife was having problems with MS Windows. First, we don't use Windows. OOPS. Next, even if we did, we wouldn't respond to this kind of bs. Somebody ought to shut them down.
- Caller: iTec Alert
- Alexk replies to JustineWhat a crock. Microsoft does not phone people to tell them about errors in their system. Period. Ever.

- Patriot BobJust got a call from High Tech Alert saying I needed to go to my computer and he would help me resolve my problem. He indicated that my computer was sending error messages to Microsoft every time I used it and that eventually my computer would fill up with these error messages and cause my computer to crash. When I asked for his name he said it was "Chi" and the number he called from was 888-893-9341. I advised him that I knew he was a scammer and that I was going to report him to the local authorities and to Microsoft. He said fine, go ahead and report me.

- Scam slayer replies to JustineJust had the same call from"Lucia" with a very east Indian accent same garbage. It is a scam , I get this call every week or so if not more from different numbers. Unsolicited calls are just that, bogus. Hang up or don't answer. I just laughed and told her we all know about this scam and she hung up before I could let her have it. 12/12/14.
- Ed replies to Patriot327| 4 repliesI recd a call from the 888 number and they said they are calling from Microsoft and that I had virus on my account. They asked me to the "view event" on my search (Start button then search at the bottom of the page). this brought all the error messages that were being sent to Microsoft. Unfortunately I fell for it - stupid of me, I know better. Even worse, per their instructions I downloaded the "team viewer" program and gave them 100% access to my computer to remove the viruses. I know, I know...so stupid. The tech person was on my computer for 2 hours and I sat at my desk watching him where he was going, to make sure he does not go to my personal file. Again, unfortunately, this idiot deleted all the new programs that I had bought and downloaded to my computer, such as "my Calendar" and my entire "Phone book". I lost all my contacts and had to start all over again. To make matters worse, they do this to sell you a security program called "Max Utilities" = Beijing SaiDaZi Laser Tech Ltd.. I agreed and purchased this and paid with a credit card (ergo: now they have my credit card number). I check this credit card on daily basis to make sure no other charges are made. The security system they sold me is pretty good however, it is a company based in China. ??? can I trust them? I dont know. So far so good and now I get a call from the 888 number claiming the same thing that "they are calling from Microsoft and they want access to my compute"...there is no way I allow this to happen to me twice. I told them on the phone and the guy started laughing. So call me stupid...no matter how careful you try to be these people sometime snuck in and catch you in a bad time. I was so desperate to fix the problems on my computer I fell for it. NOTE: Microsoft will NEVER call you so do not fall for this. Hope this helps.
- Phranne replies to EdCancel your credit card with company and get a new one. I would not trust them.
- PhranneI am on a do not call list and still receive several calls daily.

- Abusive TelemarketerI received a phone from 888-893-9341. The caller knew my first name. She stated she was a Microsoft computer tech and had been receiving error messages from my computer. I usually laugh at some telemarketers creativity, because I can't get Microsoft on the phone if I need them. They are not going to be calling me about my computer when I have no problem. I asked her what she was selling. She said, "This is not a sales call you bit**!" And she hang up. I called the number back and a man answered and explained that they call people to fix their computers for free. I told him mine was not broken. I assume they would have tried to access information about me or my computer or sell me something had I played along. 12/17/14

- ChrisFemale caller with slight foreign accent implied she was with Microsoft and that they'd been getting notifications of problems on our computer. Knew the call was bullsh*t so I said we had no computer and hung up. Beware.

- BobThe above people, except for Justine, are correct about this being a scam bigtime! I worked for IBM in their support structure and we never cold call customers. The customers called in with problems and we logged every call and what we did on every call. Also if we needed info their were set programs, to run to get just error logs and hardware configurations. No customer data, user names were ever requested or retrieved. "Justine" is a shill and probably not her real name. As a side note, I don't even run Microsoft and I asked the caller how then could my machine send calls to Microsoft? He hung up.
