Was contacted by a North Carolina phone number 704-260-3000 claiming to be with a company called Adam Meyer Phone Service and the representative was trying to get me to sign up for a service to lower my phone bill. The salesman sounded more like a multi level marketing representative as he was asking me to sign up at least 5 of my friends for the discounted phone service to own my own business and get lower monthly rates on my verizon bill.

The salesman call went like this
Salesman: "Hello is John Chan available."
Me: Yes this is John how may I help you?
Salesman: John aren't you tired of paying way too much for your phone bill? Do you receive that bill each month and your jaw drops? Well you are in the same category as everybody else.
Me: How much do I save and how does this work? How do I know this isn't a scam?
Salesman: We have been in business for years and provide low cost discounts to consumers just like you for their monthly phone bills because you get to work with us directly and bypass the store fronts.
Me: So bottom line how much do I save?
Salesman: As you can see on our website http://adammeyphoneservice.tumblr.com/ we save people up to $1,000 a year. If you get started today we will save you at least $50.00 a month and it only costs you $500 to sign up with our company. So right off the bat you are automatically saving $100. Do you want a free hundred dollars.
Me: Have you heard of 800notes?
Salesman: No, I am sorry what is 800 notes?
Me: A directory of scams like your phone service that I will be reporting.

So to make a long story short stay away from these lower monthly phone bill companies. I have never ever heard of them actually working for consumers.

The guy must be working for a Crap Service that never helps people. Instead the frauds rip them off.

Yes the phone service is most likely crap. From the reviews that I have been reading it seems that these phone providers use a different network and that is why you are able to really get a discount. Also you can not get the iPhone which is the hottest phone out there that everybody desires. I apologize fnord as I did not know but I think those looking for cheaper phone service should know about this scam to avoid the lower rates at the cost of lower service.

    Phone Call Scam
I too received a phone call from a company with the 704 area code the caller id came up as 704-260-3954 and it was the same thing as above where the representative that was offering lower phone rates but it sounded more like a multi-level marketing scheme than a legitimate phone service. I assume if it's not AT&T, Verizon, Comcast, Vonage, or a well known telecom provider directly calling that it's not worth the implications of switching. My husband spoke with this Adam company and did not want to switch over.

I am out staying at the Aria hotel here in Las Vegas nevada and overheard somebody from south florida stating that they worked for a company in North Carolina who offers lower phone rates, electricity bills, and cable service to their clients because they are able to bypass the main brick and mortar stores.

Wow thanks for the heads up while I am away at work during the day my wife says she's gets 3-6 telemarketers a day pursuing her to purchase or sign up for different discounts whichever may or may not be a scam. Think you 800notes and Julie for the website.

Adam Meyer?    I wonder of it's that  same guy who ran  the "questionable" gamboling board and threatened 800notes with a libel suit if anyone said anything bad about him, then resorted to spamming an shilling the board when that didn't work.

If it's the same guy,  I'd sooner send my banking information to a Nigerian nobleman offering me a big, on-line  lottery win.

No [removed:lang] it's a phone service and pyramid scheme/scam http://adammeyphoneservice.tumblr.com/ you sign up for lower phone rates because you dont pay directly to the phone company who has to pay a lot of overhead. It may actually not be a scam but in favor of the message boards here we prefer to jump to conclusions so it's getting my vote.

I too thought of Mr. "Adam Wins", but the paucity of evidence and lack of logical connection between the two operations make only a weird coincidence thus far.

When your rebuttal contains foul language and absurd assertions, it tends to cause us to write you off immediately as a bad actor.

While your claimed competitive advantage would have sounded credible in 1965, today's competitive environment has forced most landline providers to offer more reasonable pricing structures. Besides, I doubt you are offering landline services, which may be a bit stodgy, but are still more robust.

Instead, I suspect you are offering VOIP services, which makes you one little fish in a teeming sea of piranha-esque competitors. When comparing you with others offering less robust, but potentially more flexible VOIP services, I would venture to guess that your services would not be competitive, but would instead be priced above the going market rate.

Indeed, it seems likely that you are buying service from one of the big fish, then re-selling it through layer after layer of russian doll mark ups. Unfortunately for you and your dubious come-on line, there are lots of providers who are quite happy to provision service for anyone with a credit card, and who do not tack on the burden of multiple striations of gullible thralls.

So, ironically, you sound like an organization burdened by the very overhead you claim makes others uncompetitive.

I also have to wonder what sort of technical services and support can be provided by an organization comprised largely of a horde of get rich quick seminar marks, led by one or more fast talking "Peter Ponzis" and their attendant Tinker Belles.

The truth is, I have yet to encounter a "multi-level" organization which could withstand close scrutiny, and right or wrong, in my own opinionated personal and private lexicon, multi-level marketing is listed as a synonym for den of thieves.

As always, one person's opinion. Have a nice day.

A warning to everyone - You CANNOT buy brand name goods from China. You CANNOT! You will either be ripped off, or you will get fake, knockoff goods. ALWAYS do a "whois" domain search on any site you have never done business with, or are considering doing business with. If the web site is from China, go to fraudwatchers.org & do a search on them there. On the sellers web page, look for the Red Flag warnings (1) Web page is new (less than one year, & for only 1 year) (2) Method of payment is wire transfer (Western Union) (3) Phone number shows up on other China web pages (a sure sign of a scam site).
