I received a phone call from the same moron, "Joseph" on 2/17/2010 on my cell phone.  The funny thing is, I answered the call, and the message started - it was clearly a recording intended for my answering machine, but was attempting to mimic a live voice.  I know it wasn't live because I was saying, "hello, hello" and the message just went on and on.  The recording was vague, ordering me to call him to discuss a matter that may or may not concern me.  This piqued my curiousity, so I called the 702 number on my caller ID (not the 800 number "Joseph" told me to call, and "Joseph" answered.  He initially said, "oh, did I just call you?" I told him that a recording pretending to be a person called me.  Then he told me that he was having computer problems with California numbers.  I told him that I wasn't in CA, and he said, "whatever, what's your name, phone number and address?  I asked him who he was and why he was calling.  He told me that he needed my name, address, and phone number first and that he was "here to help [me]."  I told him that I wanted to know with whom I was speaking and what company was represented prior to giving over any information and suddenly the conversation turned very, very bizarre.  He began to tell me, "you sound like a kid, a young kid.  You think you know everything, you're just a kid, you don't know anything."  At that point, I told him that he was acting very strangely and I was certainly not inclined to give him any personal information.
Then I hung up and haven't heard back since.

As most of you have observed, the various posts here by individuals claiming to defend these toolsheds are, in fact, posted by the dolts that work for these slimeballs.  I wish I would have known about the cease and desist order (see prior posts) against these losers when I had my conversation with Joseph.  It would have been a fun thing to mention....

Don't take these clowns seriously - it's a scam.  Anyone who won't identify themselves, won't provide anything in writing, and loses there temper when asked for basic information is clearly not from a reputable, or even legal company.

    How can Tomas be right?
So I received a letter from them saying I'm being sued in 7 days! If what this guy Tomas says is true how can this be? The funny thing is they called me a couple weeks ago (some guy named Mark Cruz) and told me about a bill I owe and he was actually very nice and did seem like he was trying to help me resolve my issue. I told him I didn't have the money and couldn't pay. He told me I was going to be sued but wasn't really threatening or rude. Was almost as if he was just informing me and giving me a chance to prevent legal action. I explained I didn't have the money and he said I would receive court papers. I just received this letter stating I now have 7 days to pay the debt or they will file a lawsuit against me! How can this be true if they are a "scam" Has anyone else on here received this letter? Did they follow thru with the law suit after the letter? I mean it's clearly stated in the letter "we will file a law suit against you for the collection of this debt" so I don't understand how they can be a scam! So many people on here have been sued by them as well so I'm  confused! Any advice from anyone would be great. Thanks!

Hopefully the readers of these postings will be savvy enough to realize that posters like the one above are liars attempting to defend the scam.  The obvious indications of this are posted throughout this message board, so I won't repeat them.

    blahblah
*I looked the # up because these idiots said they had a check waiting for my boyfriend in their office to try to get him to return their call. He works two jobs so he really isn't home when they call all of the time, and I'm not giving his work, or cell #. Who ever should have the numbers already does. I'm no idiot. Who, but a scam artist, or "bull" collector would call you out of the blue with some crap like that? That's just low, deceitful, and if it isn't against the law it should be.

*Yes you are confused... A collection agency and a scam are two different things although most collection agencies are deceitful, and scandalous in order to get the bill paid. They're like little tricks that way. If they were so nice, and helpful you wouldn't have received court documents.

Same as others .. Joseph calling about a check to verify information... directing to callback for the 866 number but shows up on caller ID as 651-304-6949

I had been getting calls a few months back from Payday Loans for another person's name. It's frustrating because I know the calls are not for me. I asked another collector to stop calling because obviously it was an old phone number reassigned, she told me she could not stop calling unless I wrote her a letter... but would not provide an address.

Does anyone have an address for these people. They have the wrong person yet won't stop calling my home and I filed a complaint with the Attorney General and was told to send them a cease and desist letter but they won't give me and address. They just hang up when I ask for there info.

Adding that another "who called me" website has the same exact bogus posts about being sued, served papers or setting up payment plans.

I have been getting these for a couple weeks now.  I usually look up 800 numbers in google before I return a call to one.  This one looked very fishy to me so I called the Nebraska Attorney General's consumer hotline and they advised me not to return the calls.  I don't have any debt that I'm not paying on and I've never received a payday loan (those things are just legal scams in my opinion).

The AG's office called me back today to follow up with me and said they couldn't verify anything about the company but continued to advise simply not returning the call.  Part of me wants to call from a payphone or something and give fake info just so I can see what they're all about and figure out a way to get off their calling list.  The daily voicemails are really annoying.

Hey there... I am ashamed to say I was in the payday loan game for several years, and FFG is the guys who represent ACE CASH EXPRESS.. Now perhaps in some states they will attempt court, but its not likely... If you live in Texas... I say tell, FFG, Go for it... Payday loan companies are scum and scams...and FFG as I know some of you will read this, will find that as the banking mode continues into crisis, and people like Rep Dick Durbin (IL) has his way... You, ACE and all the rest of the PAYDAY LOAN people will be out of business... so continue to call, continue to harass... Remember, the FDPCA, and all you scum bag collectors who are calling... Just remember, the FTC Fines are real... If you dont believe me, check out UNITED RECOVERY, FMA ALLIANCE and LTD FINANCIAL in the Houston area and see just how much fines have been levied against them and THEIR COLLECTORS... So call if you want...but the next time, I get a call, falsely representing themselves as a county or law enforcement official, I am going to file a real LEGAL complaint with Harris County Judge Louie Ditta's office in Webster, Texas, and perhaps, you might just be in JAIL buddy boy... so I say go for it...

DONT PAY THESE SCUMBAGS A THING... THEY HAVE NO ABILITY TO DO ANYTHING TO ANYONE AT ANYTIME...

I was home sick today from work and my boss called me to tell me a police officer came to my job to serve me court papers! My boss told the officer I was not there today and he said he will cone back! I'm sure it's from FFG since I spoke to them last week and they told me they were going to sue me. They even said I would be served court papers at my job. I didn't really believe them but I guess it's true. I'll wait to be served I guess.

I have been receiving numurous phone calls from this number  866-443-6985.  I have repeatedly told this company that they need to remove my number from their files, b/c my new telephone number is no longer that of their person of interest!!  I was initially called a liar... basically implying that i was disguising my identity and that police have warrents for my arrest!  HELLO, after 8 months of me answering your calls, and returning them to remind FFG and Joseph that there is no sh****** ****** that lives here, they continue to call.  Come on buddy, bring it on over to my adress... you want to check my identity?  bring the police to my house... the only one that will be receiving any charges is you.

So are they a real company?  I figured based on everything I was seeing that this was just an identity theft scam or an extortion racket or something.

I'm still not answering their calls on the advice of my state Attorney General's office.

I know I don't have any bad debt out there or collection agencies calling after me.  If I did they would be leaving messages for me by name and they'd have more than just my one phone number.
