Got a email from a Steven Brown left this number 205-679-3971. Saying I was going to court.

Got an email and (gasp) a "warrant" for my arrest for an unpaid loan. If I let it go to court and when I am found guilty, I will have to pay $13,271.15.  My "case number" is AL-1509/8792. Funny thing is, my name does not appear anywhere. This is total BS and you would think that with all the complaints these emails generate, somebody would do something about it. Well, I have no intention of calling Steven Brown, attorney general (which in itself is laughable). The incorrect use of words and the spelling is very indicative of a SCAM. If I had gone to jail for all the emails I have received like this, I would be considered a hardened criminal.

Got same email with same case number and amount owed

I got a email from mike parker saying I had to go to court to pay money  he said he was att general  and the phone number 2056793971 to call asps

Same Emal l recd.  SCAM.

I got the same email as everyone above.  I immediately check this website and want to thank people for posting.  I felt it was a scam because it was sent from a hot mail account.  I didn't realize that the government used hot mail.

FOLKS - simple point ---  IF you are actually to be served, you would NOT be warned.  The server would show up unannounced.  

If the call is from the ""IRS"" hang up.  The real IRS mails letters if there is a problem..

I also got email with this number 205-679-3971 but said name was Mike parker attorney general and I was being  prosacuted if I don't reply  with in 48hrs

I received the exact same email. I called him and he said his name was Mike Parker but on the warrant it stated Steven Brown.  I told him I researched this warrant and know this is a scam, I also stated that if he was to contact me again I was going to report him to the district attorneys office.  He politely said ok sorry and hung up.  PLEASE DO NOT SEND ANY $$$$  THIS IS A SCAM!!!  CALL THEM ON IT AND THEY WILL HANG UP.

I got the same email, funny that the Alabama Attorney General's name is Luther Strange and not Mike Parker.  I mean if they are going to try to scam people at least make it more believable.

Yep. Same e mail.  I congratulated them on subscribing to "joke of the day" and then sent them a joke.

Omg I was scared until I read all your post thank god . I have never had a check a day in my life I was scared thought identity theft or something. I am glad I put this number in Google and found all your messages.said I owed 12,000 and I had a warrant for my arrest. Really. My name was no where on it.

You can attach the email filed with IC3, the cyber crimes division of the FBI.  For Extortion Scam Operations,  File reports with the FBI, your state attorney general and Department Of Justice,CFB,FTC & FCC..

Extortion Scam Related to Delinquent Payday Loans

The Internet Crime Complaint Center has received many complaints from victims of payday loan telephone collection scams. Callers claim the victim is delinquent in a payday loan and must repay the loan to avoid legal consequences. The callers purport to be representatives of the FBI, Federal Legislative Department, various law firms, or other legitimate-sounding agencies. They claim to be collecting debts for companies such as United Cash Advance, U.S. Cash Advance, U.S. Cash Net, and other Internet check-cashing services.

According to complaints received from the public, the callers have accurate data about victims, including Social Security numbers, dates of birth, addresses, employer information, bank account numbers, and the names and telephone numbers of relatives and friends. How the fraudsters obtained the personal information varies, but in some cases victims have reported they completed online applications for other loans or credit cards before the calls started.

The fraudsters relentlessly call the victim’s home, cell phone, and place of employment. They refuse to provide any details about the alleged payday loans and become abusive when questioned. The callers have threatened victims with legal actions, arrests, and, in some cases, physical violence if they do not pay. In many cases, the callers harass victims’ relatives, friends, and employers.

I got the exact same email. It only starts when its tax season. This is ridiculous.
